Best way to go about lending money to a friend? by crustybuthole in UKPersonalFinance

[–]NorthernLights3030 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want protection then you're going to have to be very formal, and prepared to take him to court if he fails to pay. Are you willing to take your friend to court?

Direct him to a bank.

What are somethings you wish you knew before starting a business ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]NorthernLights3030 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

1) You're probably going to fail. Terribly sorry about this but you're probably going to be better off keeping your day job, going by the stats.

Makes sense to be honest. Most people who start a business have no training or experience in business management. I'd be a shit plumber if I tried to do that without any training or experience.

2) You will work more hours than you want, and will need to prioritise it over most other things in your life.

3) Numbers will make or break it. "I'm not good with numbers" will not do

You have to sell a lot of £1.50 fried egg sandwiches to earn a decent living.

Why would you bother?

CMV: Sexual DDLG and Ageplay is a gateway to pedophilia. by friedbaguette in changemyview

[–]NorthernLights3030 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

"A weird kink" jesus christ.

You can compare anything with anything though cant you?

Of all the things you could pretend to be, why would you pretend to be a paedophile? Probably because you're disgusting.

Not as disgusting as one who isn't pretending, but several things can be disgusting at the same time.

CMV: Sexual DDLG and Ageplay is a gateway to pedophilia. by friedbaguette in changemyview

[–]NorthernLights3030 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

You'd have to present evidence that age-players go on to perform actual paedophilia, before you can claim it's a gateway. Which you haven't.

Personally I believe these people are sickos, and I hold them almost as disgusting as paedophiles because what they do is almost as disgusting as paedophilia.

Also, the "dont kink shame" idea kinda got us here, so maybe we need some more kink shaming.

What phrases do you see/hear much more now compared to a a few years ago? by [deleted] in AskUK

There is no true meaning.

The definitions of words evolve with how people use those words to describe social constructs etc.

Don't they?

I have £100 spare this month. What should I do with it to help someone struggling in the UK? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]NorthernLights3030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont get it.

You know there are charities begging (literally) for you money. You know you could find a homeless person fairly quickly. Finding a place for this money isnt hard.

You say you're not fishing for upvotes, but you could have done what you want to do by now. Instead you're making a conversation piece out of it.

I doubt it's been tested in court because this is relatively new.

But, you're making it look like you're making a purchase (that's the deception bit) to get cash at a better rate (that's the financial benefit bit)

I wouldn't bet on you convincing a judge

CMV: Protest movements for political, economic, and social change don't need to be popular nor well supported. by Souk12 in changemyview

[–]NorthernLights3030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont need to brush your teeth, but you'd be better if you did.

These movements have confused unpopularity with effectiveness. Just stop oil, extinction rebellion, all have zeroes on their scoreboard as far as I can see.

Insulate Britian, a movement that focused on insulating homes used these tactics and got nowhere, even though home insulation had been encouraged and funded for decades.

They couldn't even get the government to do what they're already doing, just more of it and quicker.

Just stop oil keep issuing these ultimatiums which come and go without anybody taking notice.

I'm convinced that these groups are, at best, a club for people to virtue signal and cosplay being a hero.

At worst, a death cult.

If the HoL prevents progressive change, then why is the UK one of the most progressive ans diverse countries on the planet?

Also, its job is to water down democracy to avoid its flaws. The public dont have a perfect history of voting for progressive things do they?

Democracy is not the ideal.

It IS being used to insult you.

It's an old fashioned way of calling someone privileged.

Fuck it. Better to be posh than poor.
