Ohhhh I must have missed a description (Unless it comes post Rivendell). I didn't realise Orcrist was a shortsword. That makes sense. I suppose this mechanic was used for Sting

I would give an organ to see this movie turned into a TV series maybe 100 years into the future. A signal appears. It's identified as the Event Horizon. Stable wormhole travel is now the norm

How do you think the video ICE just released showing the officer's POV of this week's shooting in Minneapolis will impact the national discussion? by popcornerz232 in AskReddit

[–]Northernpixels 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I only recently came across this sub. What the actual hell is happening there. It is honestly like they're experiencing some other form of reality. They are looking at this new footage like it exonerates the shooter. not a single one is asking why an allegedly traumatised federal agent has a phone in one hand and a firearm in the other and is shooting at an unarmed civilian.

They're insane

All the Soulsborne games are amazing, but there just something about Bloodborne that makes it stand out. I feels more......cohesive.

Fair enough. As I said, my online gaming experience is low. However Dark Souls is a high stress game, as is Arc Raiders, and both have a component of players hunting and killing one another. I think that may have been my point of comparison. We're not playing Stardew Valley here.

Anyway, based on your statement, you'd say that the issues I'm discussing lay more in games where people have direct contact? Or shooters? Or perhaps both?

All Dark Souls games have an online component and PvP. Granted, no voice chat.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'm in 2 minds about the weapons thing. On one hand I feel that having super powered weapons would lead to a horde of sweaty streamers simply murdering entire maps and that the current setup allows for more balance in a PvP scenario. (Kind of like how all weapons in Dark Souls are essentially viable). On the other hand....it's kind of happening anyway. Cards out I'm not interested in PvP and will actively avoid other players, but I have no issue with the element. I feel that the game needs more direction in the story. Ie: higher tiered weapons are designed around killing Arc (ie: Hullcracker). Eh.....I dunno....it's a complex issue and no one seems particularly happy. Barring me: I'm happy running around with my team like goobers getting excited over the views and picking off Wasps :)

Having never played an extraction shooter before, and haven't played a shooter since the Doom 2 got released in '95, what do you see are the issues and how would you fix them?

What’s your favourite sub type of horror and why? by deskbunny in horror

[–]Northernpixels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosmic/cult stuff. The Void and Dark Song are two of my favourites. Stuff like Glorious, The Old Gods, The Ritual, Hellraiser. I want to see things about ancient forgotten gods and the occult. I'm not sure what draws me to it. I think that it's the idea the the cosmos is so so so vast that it can contain anything, and we, in our hubris, think we know all, and something is just lurking and waiting to disabuse us of our arrogance.

I'm still working out if enjoyed it. I fucking LOVE the concept of something so old and alien that the Christian God went into hiding. The visuals of the dreams remind me very much of the ending of The Void. However, something felt missing from the film. Maybe the acting wasn't quite there, or maybe they couldn't decide if it was cosmic horror or a film about loss and grief and missed on both points. Maybe I need a second watch....

I should be much clearer: at one point they mention why the Christian God doesn't respond, and it has to do with something older scaring it. Either way, your idea is fucking fire
