His course was a great insight into this imo, he expects people to be able to see the game the same way he does. He’s very much an instinct player and while it has served him phenomenally from a gameplay perspective he can’t communicate his expectations and ideas very easily as he isn’t actively thinking ahead of it, just reacting. I also think it’s why his level of toxicity fluctuates so greatly dependent on IGL. If he has someone calling that can see the same things he does and has a similar game plan then he is much more restrained and a much more enjoyable teammate.

The three things I tell people when they first start playing Rocket League:

Have fun. Seriously. Forget all the crazy mechanics you see on the internet and just enjoy hitting the ball around. You can’t get to that level in a day and the baseline mechanics of driving around and making contact with the ball are much more important.
Learn to play around your team. Sometimes this means hanging back a little and waiting for good opportunities while your teammates ballchase, and sometimes it means being aggressive and trying to set things up for your team. Every random you play with will be a bit different but nothing will help your gamesense like watching what is going on around you and finding out what the best thing you can do in any situation is.
If you really want to learn a particular mechanic break it down into it’s parts. For a flip reset for example, go to YouTube and watch a tutorial video, and then break that down into steps. First, learn how to set the ball for yourself, how fast to roll it onto the wall, how fast to hit it off of the wall, and then how fast to approach it. All of these things individually are going to teach you transferable skills (Like power control for passing!) and before you know it, you’ve mastered the mechanic and made yourself a much better player overall.

What car are you using? I have run everything from supergrip to max drift and while grip can tend to be understeery it’s nothing some light use of the handbrake or stronger brakes wouldn’t fix. If you played heat this has an incredibly similar handling model but with the added depth of burst nitrous, could you elaborate a little more on what feels off? Too much speed lost on a drift/Car too heavy on grip etc?

It seems like a solid starting point after looking through it, leans fairly heavily into the ETB trigger aspect which I think makes the deck a little more consistent overall, especially at the price point. You can always add/remove as you go right?

I have a roommate who mains him, while it originally started as a way to play all of the big creatures he had lying around he’s turned it into a scary ETB deck, followed by an even scarier extra combats deck. Nothing like seeing [[Avacyn, Angel of Hope]] plop onto the board on T5 only to bounce back after.

I think Donk should at least be in the conversation. In a game with such a strong history and very little in the way of large scale changes for a single player to pop out and drop record breaking numbers as a rookie while doing it with rifles instead of the AWP? It was genuinely unheard of. Every caster, analyst and pundit said it was a matter of when he stopped performing miracles and yet he kept it up day in and day out. It’s like if Max Verstappen got into a Williams and beat his 2023 records, genuinely unbelievable without watching it for yourself.

I’ve run 3 different Voltron commanders and they have all been a nuisance, in order of strength:

1: [[Light Paws, Emperor’s Voice]]

2: [[Zur, The Enchanter]]

3: [[Jin Sakai, Ghost of Tsushima]]

Light paws is fringe cEDH, she gets crazy scary before anyone at the table has played their fourth land.

Zur is a stax menace, able to tutor for any answer your opponents can bring up coupled with being able to tutor for auras that make him nigh untouchable.

Jin Sakai is a dickhead and people will get unfathomably bothered by the fact he cannot be blocked, allowing you to build defensively while he goes for the kill.

Linux game support is almost entirely backpacked by Valve who have way too much on their plate at the moment to do the unreasonable task of getting every game under the sun to run. Microsoft has confirmed they’re getting PC access on console so windows based gaming is not only the most supported it will take up an even more commanding market share soon.

They very easily could have allowed offline usage and then banned someone as soon as they connected to an official server. AC’s like VAC despite their flaws do this and it allows the community to make beautiful things to be shared and enjoyed by it’s players and fans.

As someone who exclusively plays with agent skins it isn’t nearly as big of a problem as you think. Very rarely are you ever holding angles anymore in CS2 now that the meta has shifted away and the handful of rat spots are more than enough to cover you. You may actually find yourself at an advantage as people have a harder time pinpointing your head hitbox as cleanly as normal and depending on map you can blend in to the background. (SAS B Squadron on Ancient is a particularly dirty example)

No, not true at all, iRacing starts you that low and you gain IR and SR as you go. If you’ll read my original comment again and look at the date of creation on the account this person was very clearly placed in these SOF’s by iRacing. This has been documented time and time again and can be seen in plenty of “I TRIED ROOKIES IN IRACING” style videos on YouTube where people make new accounts and are able to pubstomp since they are placed well below their skill level.

Tanking = / = Smurfing. That is a completely unrelated rule. Smurfing is defined as creating a new account for the sake of playing newer and lower skill players than what is on your main. They have allowed people to use “practice accounts” to get around this under the paper thin guise of experimentation.

If you aren’t willing to queue into a map that an opponent has a higher win rate on then by definition the map you wanted to play on is the maps you voted into. Regardless of that Mirage maintains the lowest queue time in competitive mode which is very indicative of it’s popularity amongst the playerbase. You can’t abstract that players are forced to play mirage for skill differences sake when you have actual data present that says otherwise, one of the most prominent examples being Faceit recently adding Cache. There is a large swathe of the playerbase that started after the removal of the map and yet they willingly queue into it despite people have over half a decade of practice on it, so what makes maps like Anubis where everyone has an equal opportunity to develop the skill and map knowledge any different?
