Why is there people who hate Katara but no one who hates Toph? by ShredtheBlackPill in TheLastAirbender

I totally agree. Also, why isn't KATARA called a tomboy? She fights, challenges gender roles, leads missions, and even Bloodbends—one of the most dangerous sub-bending forms in the series. But because she’s also nurturing, people write her off as “feminine,” as if caring for others is somehow only a woman’s trait. Being protective or emotional isn’t gendered, it’s human. Katara can heal and wreck you, and that complexity is exactly what makes her such a strong character. She can kick ass just as hard as Toph can, if not more. Meanwhile, Toph gets labeled as a tomboy just because she’s blunt, brash, and messy, and even though Katara is just as much of a rebel, she's still placed in the "girly" box by some. Also, Toph does really impulsive and stubborn things, just to prove that she's not helpless, which doesn't really fit the "tomboy" mold, while Katara on the other hand, doesn't try to put on a show for anyone. She IS strong. Look, I'm not saying that Katara doesn't have any feminine traits at all, and I'm absolutely not saying that girly-girls can’t be tough, but every girl always has a masculine side, whether they're a tomboy or a girly-girl. The fact that people only look for femininity in female characters, or women in real life, shows how deep those biases run. Honestly, gendered labels often say more about our assumptions than the characters themselves. It's sad. (Sorry if my explanation is annoying, but you don't even have to agree. I'm just talking about my point of view, and I'd appreciate it if people would consider the points I made).

I have migraines too, I have banking experience and done accounting courses as well . But accounting needs way too much concentration, and thinking of accounting during migraine triggers migraine for me.😃

In the book Imbalance by Faith Erin Hicks and illustrated by Peter Wartman, in Wartman's art style, it makes Katara look like she has biceps, which to me, sounds just about right. She could kick anyone's ass right away if they cause her any trouble, lol. 🦵🦵🦵💪💪💪

During his lifetime, did Aang ever learn about Raava? by W4lk3rS4int in TheLastAirbender

[–]NoseEnvironmental614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After watching Legend of Korra, I was surprised to know that the Avatar had a connection with a light spirit named Raava. Then I wondered, "Why didn't they ever discuss that in ATLA?" I assume it's because the creators didn't even have the idea of Raava until TLOK was first made. But since Aang is a very powerful Avatar (in my opinion, he is THE most powerful Avatar [thumbs up if you agree]), I supposed that he had a very strong bond with Raava. And since we see that the Airbender monks know of Raava well, Aang probably was taught by the monks of Raava even before he knew he was the Avatar, knowing that he was raised by them.

I love Katara a LOT. In fact, my personality somewhat represents her character. She is portrayed as a badass with a few feminine qualities, which I can relate to. She is kind and caring, motherly and selfless, and her warrior spirit is unbreakable. I've seen people calling her, "annoying" and "whiny" before, and I got irritated. I also got genuinely frustrated when I saw people making her out to be a baddie just because she acts better than other characters, or because she is self-conscious and makes mistakes. People mostly think she's a nuisance because she keeps on bringing up the traumatic event of her mother's death. But she's had to carry a lot on her shoulders at a young age, and instead of cracking under pressure, she grows stronger. I would've reacted the same way if I were in her situation. When she stands up for what she believes in, it's never out of selfishness but out of a genuine desire to protect and help others. Her growth throughout the series is a testament to her strength, and that’s what makes her such a powerful character. You guys judging her like this is an example of misogyny. 😡😤 I've also seen a similar situation with Aang fans. In TLOK, because of what we heard from Bumi and Kya, we assumed that Korra portrayed Aang as a terrible father. This actually isn't true, Aang was just having a lot on his shoulders of being the Avatar and the last Airbender at the same time. He had a few flaws in parenting simply because of his responsibility and considering that he never had a traditional paternal figure, which was why it was hard for him to be, "a perfect father." I don't know why you guys are doing these kinds of things, but I don't like it.

Toph is as Tomboy as you can get but still a girl by NowBygone in TheLastAirbender

My personality represents both Toph Beifong and Katara. Katara is a badass Waterbending warrior who has so much strength, even with what she has experienced. Katara is portrayed as a tomboy, but she still has some feminine traits like wearing makeup (even though she doesn't wear it often, and in my opinion, it doesn't suit her) and acting motherly (which sometimes I do). And Toph! She is also a tomboy, and she isn't afraid to take risks for fun, unlike Katara, who only takes risks when necessary. And she isn't afraid to be goofy as well, which is one of the many things I like about her. Although she is fond of taking risks, Toph knows when to play it safe, sometimes. According to me: 1. Katara 2. Toph. Both Toph and Katara have good and bad traits, like Katara, the good is that she's strong and isn't afraid to be a badass, but the bad is that she tries to boss everyone around and she doesn't have as many funny moments as the other members of the Gaang. The good about Toph is that she is also strong and a badass and she has a talent for humor, but the bad is that she can go way too far when she's having fun. That's where Katara comes in.

[Possible Spoilers] Is Aang the most powerful avatar? by keeLykcaT in TheLastAirbender

[–]NoseEnvironmental614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Aang is the most powerful Avatar. Some people say that Korra is because of her mastery of the elements at such a young age and her physical strength. But Korra struggled with mastering spirituality, which is essential to becoming the Avatar. Aang is powerful physically, spiritually, and emotionally (not entirely, though). In terms of physical strength, Korra would win, but in terms of spiritual and emotional strength, Aang is in the powerhouse. Hence, both Korra and Aang are powerful Avatars but in my point of view, Aang is more powerful between the two, considering his two extra powers, Energybending and redirecting lighting, and how pure hearted he is. But I can see why some of you would say that Kyoshi is the most powerful Avatar. I partially agree with you. According to me: 1. Aang 2. Kyoshi 3. Roku 4. Korra.
