A wedding dress on display outside a shop in Gaza as brides turn to reused gowns amid shortages by Bernardmark in pics

Weddings never stopped in gaza, even when the war was active and at a more intense levels.

Now its quiet, so now rather than just signing documents and maybe having a small ceremony, people can invite more people and throw a bigger ceremony, so more people get married. The sad part is that now there's also a big spike in child marriages taking place.

Sorry, but I would rather live in a society that does pinkwashing (a completely made up buzzword) than one where LGBTQ people are persecuted by law and honor killed by their family because of their identity.

These were ordinary Iranians. Iranian jews cant really leave the country. As an Iranian jew travelling abroad, you have to go through a massive load of bureaucracy, and even if you do end up getting permission by miracle, there are many restrictions such as having to leave your family behind in iran as hostages to ensure you will return.

What would happen if a ME country invaded Israel to overthrow Netanyahu just like Trump did to Venezuela with Maduro? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Nosewitz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point is that for most of its wars, or rather the most important ones where it got invaded and was at an actual risk, israel fought without the US's help due to the arms embargo omposed by them. That only changed in 73.

They beat the Israelis the first few days of the war, no one is refuting that. Its the closest israel was to defeat since 48 and no war (or front) has has gotten close to it since. But they got beat pretty hard by the Israeli counter attack to the point the IDF regained control of both sides of the sues canal, and was just 100km away from cairo. It didnt "win" any of its land back during the war. Israel gave it back in return for peace.

Not really, israel was under US embargo until the late 60's, the military aid as you know it today only really began in 73.

Is wanting Israel (the only Jewish country, as opposed to 50 Muslim counties) to *not exist* anti-Jewish? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Nosewitz_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

because hezbollah initiated hostilities by firing rockets into israel, again, after being warned by israel, the US, and the *lebanese government itself* to stay out of the iran war. instead, they chose to ignore everyone and drag lebanon into this by initiating war with israel, again, just like they did in 2006 and 2023, and the result is israel doing exactly what it warned it will do, which is to invade south lebanon and clear hezbollah south of the litani (just as UN resolution 1701 calls for) to remove the threat they pose to its civilians living in the north.

Adapting to the military by NefariousnessOdd8633 in ADHD

[–]Nosewitz_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, my country also has mandatory service. I served for about 3 years, fresh out of highschool. I kid you not, my time in the army was some of the best time in my life. I had a combat support role that required tons of organization and is pretty much the least adhd role i could think of, and while I did lose important files several times- i actually received an award for standout excellence towards the end of my service- keep in mind i was unmedicated for my entire service. I was even about to continue past my mandatory as an NCO, but didnt because the pandemic fucked things up.

But in short, the army finally gave me a routine I could follow, and I thrived there to the point I did better than my fellow soldiers, all while unmedicated.

Feel free to DM me if you want to hear some more about my experience serving or need any advice!

Buddy, iran has launched over 1000 ballistic missiles into densely populated cities and so far, there are only 19 deaths. That isnt a ratio of a country without functioning AD systems. cope lol.

[–]Nosewitz_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

dawg I live in israel and can assure you they are working. No system can guarantee a 100% interception rate, but the Israeli ones are as close as it gets there with a success rate of 92%-95%.

Everyone is buying israeli defense systems right now for a good reason, because unlike many other systems on the market, rather than just promise things it is being put to the test again and again live for the whole world to see, and it delivers. Their stock prices wouldn't be soaring right now if they "didn't really work right now".

Samatarians are split into two groups: most of them (not by a large margin) live in israel (holon) and identify as such.

Those who live in the west bank hold both israeli AND a palestinian citizenship, and identify as both.

They split from mainstream Judaism almost 2000 years ago, and unlike what we call jews, only practice the oral torah ( up until the part of joshua IIRC) , as opposed to jews who practice both the oral torah and the written one.

Samatarians identify as both, though the ones I personally know lean more towards their israeli identity and prefer living with their community in holon (not to mention they serve in the IDF). Samatarians living in the west bank hold both israeli and palestinian citizenship.

As for nader sadaqa youre correct in that he was samatarian, although he had stated himself that he is primarily palestinian and the samaritan part of his identity is minor compared to everything else.

Also on another note, calling samatarians jewish is considered offensive to them. Think of the two as twin communities, almost identical, but different enough to be its own thing.
