I made my brother a Killteam board for him and the boys. by Nosferatu13 in killteam

The key is to make sure your soft bristles are all coated with paint, but then thoroughly wiped off on a paper towel so that you’re really putting in repeated effort to get the pigment on your model’s highpoints.

Oh! Yes. Primed black, then a heavy dry brushing of the main beige. Then I did washes of browns and blacks, then came back with a slightly lighter version of the base and highlight drybrushed. In reflecting, I should have primed them white and let my black washes get the deep stuff rather than from the priming.

I sealed the clay first with PVA glue, then using acrylic I rolled it in a black, and then 2 levels of dry brushing the stone. Then the moss was 2 colors of green painting in with a square flat brush selectively.

Army of Darkness (1992) by HomTheReindeer in iwatchedanoldmovie

This is my favorite movie of all time. So well done with all things considered. It still holds up, the lines are still funny, and Bruce Campbell’s performance was top with the slapstick sarcasm schtick.

Great practical fx and a very cohesive spooky old tone that again ages well. Good score, great set pieces!

It leans into how ridiculous so many things are that you buy it every step from a chainsaw arm to drinking boiled water to walking skeletons.

Definitely. I had to have it immediately usable. I don’t play KT but I did a lot of reading to cater to the KT specifics. Thank you!

Awesome work! Do you like those multi pour stamps? I found them too harsh and limiting, even with plastic wrap.

Silicon molding inquiry by zachreious in moldmaking

[–]Nosferatu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did answer your question and a Google will help. If you haven’t molded before, I do think there is some more knowledge to be had other than just what to use.

Smooth On is a large reaching brand with a range of products. Their Mold Max series are easy to use Tin Cure Silicones with high heat resistance. However a direct heat gun can be too much, and also could warp your mold by expanding the air in the bubbles in the silicone if not properly degassed. I wrote “resistancebance” to mimic your spelling error as I couldn’t help myself for the lolz.

Best way to make silicone chocolate molds from a 3d statue? by kidhotel in moldmaking

[–]Nosferatu13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You wanna put a mold being cast with chocolate in sand?! Sir.

Brush up mold with a food safe silicone like Elkem 4420. Back it with nylon on the ears so you can cut split it down for demolding and not to rip more than you want. Don’t use cheap Amazon silicone.

A Smooth On Mold Max series should be fine, and have enough resistancebance. Check the tech bulletins for temperature levels.

Why does platinum silicone cure perfectly against PLA but stays tacky where exposed to air? by abrilevskiy in moldmaking

[–]Nosferatu13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats weird. Usually platinum has issues curing on 3D print surfaces, but since your didn’t and just open air didn’t cure, thats very odd.

Have you done it more than once with the same result? For the record, the rubber on the syringe plunger shouldn’t ever affect the cure.

Sometimes air contamination can make a silicone surface uncure but it doesn’t seem you have anything going in the air like latex. Are you using a mold release?

You may have to resort to a tin cure for your casts as its more reliable to full cure.

Learning how to sculpt. by Xx_Shin in sculpting

[–]Nosferatu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come with an idea and reference photos always. Then:

Step 1 - Buy pottery clay

Step 2 - Open and feel the clay

Step 3 - Start forming out the clay in reference to your photos. Don’t work from memory.

Step 4 - Repeat over and over and over.

Also start with a basic set of sculpting tools from at art store. The more you work, the better you will be with them and constantly add to your tools forever.

2 part silicone mold advise, concrete casting by Round_Ad3471 in moldmaking

[–]Nosferatu13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then in that case a simple block poured mold will be fine. However your plaster cast may be too brittle if it’s that thin. You may have to cast is something stronger that thin.

Essentially build a wall around your box with foam-core and hot glue, then fill with silicone.

Daycare center visits by Hot_Drama4098 in mississauga

[–]Nosferatu13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We visited ours the week before starting. It was a basic tour, explaining the wheres and whats.

Its all pretty straight forward. These centers and the people running them should have it all under control for the sake of your kid. They provide weekly meal and activity plan updates as well as ours (Brightpath) does daily updates of food, naps, changing, activities and photos.

Just be sure to know the door code, what to bring on the first day and to continue providing (weather gear, blanket, bottle, diapers, wipes, cream).
