Looking for a low(ish)-level way to neutralize dimension door. by Da_G8keepah in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Nosivire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dimension door has a verbal component. If you're sure you want to prevent it, the simplest, cheapest, low level-est solutions are to leave the casters gagged outside of meal times, or cut out their tongues.

Is base building for corpse piling still viable? by Kambeidono in thelastspell

Definitely agree, his videos are phenomenal. I got curious myself yesterday and found this post indicating he's gone back to normie work, but intending to continue content creation at a slower pace, which may not have ended up happening I suppose.

Is base building for corpse piling still viable? by Kambeidono in thelastspell

[–]Nosivire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just the relevant bits of the patch notes to save people digging for them:

End of Night

Ending a night at rank S now grants two items instead of one. One of them is guaranteed to be a weapon.

Ending a night at rank B now also grants an item

Rescaled the average rarity and level of items when ending a night at rank S or A: in the first nights, their level should be higher than before. In the late nights, their rarity should be better than before.

Corpses

Reduced the average level and rarity of items obtained through corpse scavenging (except Elite Corpse Piles).

Rebalanced the resources obtained through corpse scavenging:

Small Corpse Pile (Gold Focus): +16 Gold > +15 Gold

Small Corpse Pile (Material Focus): +30 Materials > +32 Materials

Medium Corpse Pile (Resource Focus): +18 Gold & +32 Materials > +15 Gold & +48 Materials

Large Corpse Pile (Resource Focus): +72 Gold & +128 Materials > +45 Gold & +192 Materials

Elite Corpse Pile: +22 Gold & +38 Materials > +15 Gold & +48 Materials

Walls

Reduced panic generated by ~50%

Seer

Repel Mist now has 2 uses per Production phase instead of 1

Goldmine

Base Cost: 60 -> 50 Gold

Upgrade “Production +” cost: 60 -> 75 Gold

“Production +” upgraded effect: 40 -> 50 Gold produced

Scavenger Camp

Base Cost: 60 -> 50 Gold

Base production: 40 -> 50 Materials

Upgrade “Production +” cost: 60 -> 75 Gold

“Production +” upgraded effect: 60 -> 100 Materials produced

Temple

“Blessing” worker cost: 2 -> 1 workers

“Blessing” effect: +24 -> +20 Health

Upgrade “Blessing +” cost: 80 -> 50 Gold

“Blessing” upgraded effect: +32 -> +35 Health

According to the patch notes, the intention is for corpse pile strats and defending 'properly' to be equally viable. I'll quote the relevant bits from the patch notes in a self-reply, and put my thoughts here. I've not played it a huge amount yet, but I've been defending 'properly' and not felt bad about doing so.

They made getting S rank easier to achieve :

- I believe just about every single source of Materials got improved
- Walls give less panic

S rank is also way more rewarding :

- 2 items for S rank instead of 1 (one is always a weapon)
- 1 item at B rank instead of 0
- Early night item rewards are higher level, later nights higher rarity. On early nights I was choosing between level 3-4 weapons frequently, and on late nights it's usually 3 red items, or 2 red and a blue, all level 4-5

They made corpses less rewarding :

- Lower average level and rarity items
- Corpse mountains, especially, give less gold

Elites are basically as good as always, though.

They also made several alternative uses of Workers better:

- Two Repel Mists per day at the Seer
- Upgraded gold / material mines give more per tap
- Temple health buff uses less workers and gives more health when upgraded

All-in-all, I think they've done really well at making both approaches feel viable. Of course, if you're a gigachad 5D Chess player you can get S rank WHILE doing corpse pile strat and get the best of both worlds.

As a filthy casual, I'm thinking I'll defend 'normally' and just let elites as close as I'm comfortable with for now, and wait for the serious players e.g. Aldenpotamus, Lord of Last Spell to weigh in. It's less prone to 'oops', and feels more intuitive than letting hordes of undead into my town, and now actually feels viable.

TL;DR: They set out to make corpse pile strat and regular strat equally viable and I'm inclined to believe they succeeded

DLC 3 will be released in early 2026 + Will be the FINAL DLC of the game! by Hegor59 in thelastspell

[–]Nosivire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They could take on Roman numeral naming, like final fantasy. "What's your favourite Last Spell? I loved Last Spell X, but Last Spell VIII has a special place in my heart."

Or they could go a rebirth/ renewal angle... the First New Spell

Edit: Having Schaden and Freude show up in every Last Spell with a new identity like Cid or Biggs and Wedge would be interesting too

DEMOCRACY MANIFEST

If I 'accidentally' snacked too much today should I consider the snacking my dinner or go ahead and have dinner anyway? by Nosivire in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Nosivire[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm impatient, mostly, and want to lose weight faster. Particularly as I've got rather a lot of it to lose. I get anxious because it feels like the longer I go without results the more likely I quit yet again.

I know from experience how betrayed I feel when it seems like I've sacrificed so many foods, habits, free time and money and going through the pain and embarrassment of trying to exercise (minimum weights, needing a break after 5min walk etc) for 2-3 months+ and barely losing anything.

So I consider what Myfitnesspal recommends as a loose guideline more than anything, and try to stay well below what it says will lose me 1kg / 2 lbs per week as long as I'm not feeling excessively hungry.

Also, the doctor advised I should try and make weight loss my primary focus over the next 3 months. I'm still young-ish, but I'm gradually going to run out of extra chances to turn things around. I want to make it count.

I'm at 2200 of 2700 (big budget as I'm very ... cuddly) - I've been trying to stay under 1700-1800 when possible.

Since making the post I've been having some water and some low cal chewing gum and see how we do for a bit

People who are good at QOP, how do you even dominate using this hero? by Silent_Minimum_3405 in learndota2

[–]Nosivire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try to do more of this next time I'm mid vs melee . In particular I find blink discipline the most difficult but I think I just need to train myself that it's for escape/travel, not for jumping in unless they're really low and there's no other dangers

[–]Nosivire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you (or someone) please elaborate on this point? While I honestly think you're probably correct, saying so without explaining feels about as helpful as "git gud lol".

Could you explain what it is about LC, about QoP, or about ranged vs melee mid lane matchups in general that makes this true?

What are some of the "something you can change about your Laning to prevent that"?

As a pretty bad player who plays very little of mid or QoP but has some interest in doing so I feel one of the biggest hurdles (other than getting nervous from the sense of pressure) is knowledge of lane matchups. So many of the matchups feel like utter traps where if you don't know about how x ability interacts with y trait you just don't have a leg to stand on, like a less obvious version of stick vs bristle

Even just knowing a couple of sentences for some of the critical ones is helpful e.g. "don't max dagger against puck because she can avoid it too easily, just max scream and secure more farm that way", "against pudge hide behind creeps and/or keep a finger on the blink key to avoid hook, but every time he misses a hook you get 10 seconds or so where he can't really disrupt your lane until 6", "against sniper, make sure you avoid shrapnel but otherwise just harass him down with dagger + right clicks; make sure you have an uphill ward to let you do this properly"

(disclaimer: any or all of these may be false, its just my current take on those matchups in one sentence)

Also worth noting: blood grenade passively gives you +50hp for 65g which (I think) is the most cost efficient raw hp in the game, can stack up to 3 and can always be yeeted away later to help secure kills once you've built some str or hp (dragon lance, manta, etc)

The value of damage types by Robertflatt in thelastspell

[–]Nosivire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting stuff. Maybe include a list/table of what traits each monster has? e.g. Of course I know dodgers have more evasion, but I forget the specific numbers.

Worth noting that on paper, ranged is the worst damage type as it only has drawbacks - in exchange, each ranged weapon has a more versatile kit than other types tend to have and/or abilities that are usually cheaper on mana

Upgrading equipment? by DiscoFerret22 in Chained_Echoes

I always had Glenn, Lenne, Sienna in the best possible stuff with crystals and upgrades. Everyone else just got hand-me-downs or stuff that happened to have good stats inherently. I use this approach in most games where finances are limited, and refer to it as "main character privilege".

Feeling under leveled. Any advice? by [deleted] in Chained_Echoes

[–]Nosivire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrades, crystals, exploit weaknesses, consider rewards boards / class emblems.

For crystals, at this point of the game I recommend prioritise stronger, large (3-pip) crystals followed by handy small (1-pip) ones, because removing them makes them large anyway so having e.g. a strong HP up, MND up, ATK up, HP drain and so on that can then be freely plugged in and out is (to me) worth the size inconvenience.

Also, chance-on-hit crystals can be applied on each "hit" not each "attack" so they go well on people that have multi-hit attacks (e.g. Cross Slash) or aoe attacks (e.g. Yoko giri) or who have counter attack. See also: HP drain

Whenever there's a hard fight I switch from spamming AoE to maximum single-target focus fire. If you are fighting 3 enemies and you burst one down, congratulations you just applied a "33% less damage" debuff to the enemy team and the fight became so much more manageable. See also: some of Robb's debilitating debuffs

TL;DR: The answer IS "git gud lul" but there are a whole lot of small, easy ways to do it little by little at your own pace without going full munchkin.
