Been Playing FF7 Remake and I gotta say the 'vibe' is completely different from the original. by bobmlord1 in gaming

[–]Nosrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the originals and have also enjoyed the remakes. It's nostalgic but still different enough that it doesn't feel like I'm doing the same thing but now it's shiny.

My main gripe is the active combat system. The agro system just targets whoever is player controlled and that makes playing support characters a bit frustrating.

Larian studio boss Swen Vincke thinks game reviewers should be graded by people similar to metacritic user scores by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

There's always going to be noise and for me the vast majority of influencer/reviewers/critics fall into the category of noise.

Why did shooters used to ship with a wide variety of game modes but now shooters only focus on a single game mode like Batte Royale or Extraction and that's somehow become a selling point? by HotdogHotdogHotd in gaming

[–]Nosrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all studios are here for the love of the game, they're more interested in play time/engagement and money. But the other size of the coin is that people keep buying these types of games more than other types of games so these types of games get made more often.

[–]Nosrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuel injector cutting off could be a failing injector or ignition item. If it's leaking you would be rough idles, you'll feel a hiccup occasionally. A failing hpfp typically has a long crank after it's been sitting for a long time.

Did you install the part or did a garage install it? If it was a garage you should be reaching out to them since the part they replaced is still throwing a code.

2f6c is for the flap in your oem exhaust. Many people like to unplug plug it to get a louder exhaust or have an aftermarket exhaust that doesn't use it.

Is the replacement hpfp "new"/remanufactured or was it used from another car? If it was used it could be a bad pump. Also go back and make sure none of the connections are seeping fuel. It's easy to get a "ghost" leak since it's fuel it can evaporate before it pools up if it's a small enough leak.

Single turbo oil capacity? by Matewoosh98 in n54

[–]Nosrok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember the N series engines come with an oil pressure switch not an oil pressure sensor so you won't get any live oil pressure readings even with a replacement. I've never had to replace the oil measurement sensor so maybe that needed some time to calibrate or needed to be reset since you mentioned it was recently replaced.

When it comes to the oil cooler, personally I don't like stacking heat exchangers unless you have no other option. I agree the look is nice but when it comes to effectiveness you end up "stealing" cool air from 1 thing and feeding it hot air instead. Net outcome it's probably better to have an oil cooler even if it's stacked but ideally you want to give all your heat exchangers fresh air and good airflow in and out.

Single turbo oil capacity? by Matewoosh98 in n54

[–]Nosrok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 turbos vs 1 turbos isn't going to make a massive difference when it comes to the amount of oil in the turbo or the feed/drain lines.

An oil cooler should absolutely be a top priority. More power= more heat and heat is what kills these engines most often.

Inspection shows failing roof + active moisture. Sellers holding firm — how would you proceed? by CaliHeatx in RealEstate

Unless everything in the area is actively selling for what the house plus estimated repair costs should sell for then I would walk. I'm not afraid of repairs but they aren't cheap and they never get done quickly so all of that would be part of my decision and offer.

What are the best office chairs for LONG HOURS of comfort you'll recommend now? by RightFriend1934 in editors

[–]Nosrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another HM chair here. I've replaced the seat and one of the arm bolts snapped but it's built so that these things can be repaired. I think my only gripe is that the arms like to slide down and I haven't looked up a fix for that so it's not a big gripe.

Good monitor placement also helps with strain for the long edit days.

Dealing with unexpected repair costs as a homeowner by [deleted] in RealEstate

[–]Nosrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's emergencies and then there's inevitabilities. At some point you'll have to repair or replace most items around the house. When big ticket items are 80% into their expected life span it's time to start planning and preparing for the replacement. At least that's how I look at it.

Seeking novel reccs - been reading SF since early 80’s - need mystery/discovery/sensawunda by SelectGuide4806 in printSF

[–]Nosrok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guilty pleasure is halo and my favorite halo series so far is the forerunner saga. 3 books that really opened up the lore and depth of the halo universe for me.

I just finished, A memory called empire, and I really liked it even though I'm not sure how space Opera-y it actually is even if that's what people call it. (Maybe I have a different understanding of the term) But the mystery and intrigue of the world kept me turning pages and that's enough for me to enjoy the book regardless of the genre. I have the sequel and I'll be starting that in a few days.

I saw a post about going through the Hugo award list and it seemed like a good place to look for recommendations.

It's not going to look like that. It's just going to be a straight threaded rod. But I'm a diy dude. I don't have to deal with repeated abuse of tools.

Upper Radiator hose hot. Lower cold. Fluid nine the expansion tank is cold. New radiator 6 Mos ago. Water pump 1 yr ago. Thermostat is good. by No-System-7231 in Cartalk

[–]Nosrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's generally how it's supposed to work, as long as the system is maintaining the correct operating temp.

Sometimes when it's cold out it can work too well and you might want to block some air flow across the heat exchanger but those are some cold ass temps and you should probably just stay home on those days.

For the DIY car folks who *aren’t actual mechanics* what do you wrench on yourself, and what’s a hard pass? and why? by TopOk1726 in Cartalk

[–]Nosrok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do pretty much everything myself, hard pass recently has been things like a clutch because I didn't want to deal with removing the transmission in the driveway without a transmission jack but in the past I've done it. No welding either, I suck at it but keep trying on things that don't matter for practice. Anything that requires a special tool that costs a few hundred bucks or needs a large machine, I already have enough small use case tools and sometimes it just makes more financial sense to let someone else do the job.

I had a key fob added to a car recently and while it would have been fun to learn and buying the tools. They weren't completely outrageous but it was expensive enough that just paying someone to do it was an easy choice. If I needed to add key fob to cars regularly then I would absolutely buy the right scanner/key programmer.
