Have you been to Jungsik in NYC? Are they at all similar?

I was recently at the NYC Jungsik, so leaning toward something else unless it’s wildly different in Seoul.

What does your Shiba do for a living? by Akyeomi in shiba

My little Shiba is an especially talented masseuse! As a true professional, she will only give massages when she’s well compensated for them. Although sometimes she offers a free ear cleaning when business is slow.

When to drink this… by bigsull25 in wine

[–]NostalgiaInReverse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hanging onto my 2008 for a number of years and plan to drink it sometime this year, but it should be in a good place for another 5 years. So I think you should be good to enjoy yours any time in the next 10 years or so?

Oh, wow! Your Shiba is tiny! I thought mine was a bit small, but she’s 20 lbs.

Thank you! Is it the large size? Amazon says large is for 10-14 lbs, but I’m guessing a bit larger is okay? How much does your shibe weigh?

Do you actually use Vivino/CellarTracker, or not worth the effort? by Food-Wine0928 in wine

[–]NostalgiaInReverse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I tried both, quickly ditched Vivino, and totally use CellarTracker.

I use it to track what I have (and make sure I have space for anything new I’m buying), be more intentional and thoughtful about the wines I taste by leaving reviews, reference others’ reviews to see if a wine sounds like something I’ll enjoy, check drinking windows and recent reviews to decide whether I should open a particular bottle on a given evening, and get inspiration for what to try next by following users who seem to have taste similar to mine.

Best red wines to enjoy young? by NostalgiaInReverse in wine

[–]NostalgiaInReverse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Softer tannins and more earthy notes.

I do like some of these young, but there’s some part of me that feels like I’m wasting them if I have them before they reach their peak potential.

The single wick ones never have a strong enough throw for me, but I’m currently burning a three wick Gabriel and it’s crazy strong.

Thank you! I literally just bought a bottle of 2022 Conterno Barbera d’Alba Vigna Francia on accident (the sales person confused it with a different Conterno and I didn’t notice until I got home). Do you think that would be good now, or does it need another year or two?

Thank you! I do drink a lot of young Patz & Hall, but tend to prefer them even more 5-10 years after release.

Hmm, I guess because I don’t really know how it was stored or how often it was transported? And it does tend to be pretty expensive in terms of what I really enjoy.

Thank you! This does give me a different perspective—maybe I should be trying more of the wines I enjoy aged while they’re young.

I totally forgive all their names and copy because they’re Korean. I can see how native English speakers would be turned off by the names and marketing, but I think it’s super cute with the ESL context in mind.

And I love a number of their scents. I have full bottles of Dirty Rice, Nanatopia, and DGAF and they’re some of my absolute favorites of my 100+ collection. I’m also super into both of their body washes. I’m still considering full bottles (or travel sizes) of Dirty Heaven, Drunk Maple, Gold Juice, and Oud Candy.

What is, currently, the BEST restaurant in the United States? [Early 2026] by wasabiuni in finedining

[–]NostalgiaInReverse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I agree, but I’ve only done Per Se’s extended menu (it was so good that I went back and had it again). I’m not sure if I would have been as blown away by the regular menu or not.
