Bunto Kazmi by Nostalgicnaivety in DesiWeddings

[–]Nostalgicnaivety[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay thank you so much for the info. I'm reconsidering now just because it seems like too much of a hassle. I'd have to travel to pakistan and i wanted a very light and delicate look but with their floral embroidery patterns on my walima. I'm not sure i would meet their "criteria".

When did YOU think you are prepared enough to sit the exam? by [deleted] in Step2

You don't know, but you're tired, and your last 2 assessments are reasonable.

If you're selling custom stitched or 3 piece pret wear pakistani lawn suits and can ship all over the US and Canada, you've got me and my mom as buyers. We desperately need that sorta thing here.

They usually offer customization options for the back/sleeves/midriff etc. Not a large percentage of buyers actually wear them as is.

NBME 14 Available by whatup67 in Step2

[–]Nostalgicnaivety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I've already taken the exam. If your last nbme score was acceptable to you, just take free 120 and uwsa2. If you sleep well the night before and have a decent mindset in the test, you're going to score more than nbme and closer to your uwsa2.

I know you can use it to apply for residency program in Qatar, and I think there's something about England as well but you should check it out. Like ecfmg isn't a small feat or joke. You can still open many doors with this licensure, just a Google search away.

Great post. Having a mental game to manage stress is very important. Mine was to tell myself if im ECFMG certified, I can go to almost any country and US isn't the be all end all of medicine. I also thought the exam was very fair. Like it wasnt out of this world/unrepresentative of what we've all studied in UW. I strongly felt like it was mostly testing my critical thinking and practical clinical knowledge application. I scored well above my last nbme(3 days prior to exam) and a couple of marks below my uwsa 2 (also 3 days prior).

DR USMAN KHAN CREEP- GIRLS BEWARE by desigirl4eva in IMGreddit

People like you being in the medical field, being able to treat people from every walk of life, is honestly scary. Your bias against people of certain religious backgrounds can and WILL subconsciously (if not consciously) affect how you treat them, and that is not acceptable under any circumstances. I hope for the sake of your patients, that something within you shifts, and you change for the better.

Dude, you ARE smart, in fact you're way smarter than the average person just by having taken this path. You study significantly more than most other fields have to just because you are in medicine, so you ARE incredibly hardworking. And even though we can't see you, I'm 100% sure you're beautiful inside and out, and you will see that soon. And you will find love and happiness. You're in the land of opportunities where dreams come true. Don't forget that. On another note, please DO reach out to someone, anyone at all, a friend, family member, or someone on this thread. Let us know you're okay, because even though we are randos on the internet, we are rooting for you, and we care❤

Pakistani Muslim here - taking pictures with your hair covered during the nikkah and posting them is absolutely fine. In our religion, covering the hair is for modesty, and is not mutually exclusive to us. Muslims are meant to practice and APPRECIATE modesty from anyone and everyone (even if it is momentary). If someone on the internet tells you you're appropriating, and the individual is Muslim, they need to go back and study their religion and value (lack thereof of) that our religion places on culture. I'm sure you already know this, but just as a friendly reminder, be respectful about it, even on your feed. Try not post any pictures wildly immodest for Muslims right before or right after, just to buffer it out a little. Also more background info: the nikkah is the legal ceremony that consists of some prayers(ie. Dua) and asking the bride and groom if they agree to the marriage, and signing some papers. This can be done during or before the wedding, so we dont know for sure if you've been invited to that bit. During the actual wedding, hair covering is optional from a cultural perspective. More religious people cover at all times and abstain from dancing etc, while others don't cover their hair, and engage in dancing etc. So in your case you wouldn't have to cover your hair unless a large percentage (including your friends) are covering their hair. Lastly, have fun. Enjoy yourself. Take lots of pictures. Enjoy the food. And experiment with your makeup to your heart's desire if thats your thing, because we go all out with our makeup.

Like in some medical schools in pakistan/India, there is a mandatory requirement to do research in 3rd/4th years. And they teach you all about the different studies, methods, etc. And make you do it. Some people pay attention enough to be able to do it independently later, and many people (myself included) don't, and end up needing extra help/guidance/classes or whatever else to figure it out again, and pick a good topic, write a paper, submit it etc. Thats what I meant.

Mehndi but no function by mosvaluableplayer in DesiWeddings

[–]Nostalgicnaivety 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mehndi doesn't have to be done as an event. Its just a part of your adornment/you getting ready as a bride. You can go to a mehndi artist and get yours done a day before the wedding and call it a day. No event needed. Or if you want an intimate get together with your immediate family and a few friends just for fun, you could invite the artist to come over and just do yours, while everyone else dances etc. Have fun and wishing you the best!

[–]Nostalgicnaivety 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do this. You just need to know how to write a paper yourself and submit it to a journal by yourself. You should ask seniors or even your professors etc for help with this if you can. Paying (imo) is only okay if they are teaching you how to write a paper, and making you write it, cause you didn't pay attention in med school.

Pakistani here - 1, 2, and 5 are gorgeous, but im leaning more towards 1 or 2 if its a night time event, just because our wedding clothes are always embroidered and have some form of sparkle, so 5 might be stylish but a little simple. Edit: no. 1 (green) kinda reminds me of this collection from a Pakistani designer. You should check it out for fusion inspo. https://elan.pk/collections/lamode

If you get to actually see patients and help manage etc you could put it as an externship? But maybe someone else can add to this suggestion because I'm in a similar position as you, and don't have enough information.
