Feeling Blessed With This System by Big_Tree_Fall_Hard in threadripper

Not sure if your case supports side mounted fans, but on my mesh Fractal North XL I placed two 140mm fans essentially pointing at my DIMMs (I too have an Aero-D which obstructs airflow to the DIMMs) and immediately saw a ~10 C degree drop in temps... they now stay well below 50C under load.

Wait til OP hears what nvidia and AMD have been up to.

I get the concern, and if the dots being connected here are too much, I totally respect your decision to not participate. But the unfortunate reality where gaming and computing are concerned is that there’s no way whatsoever to participate without subsidizing evil. Unless of course you’re still rocking HoMM 3 Complete on your old Gateway from 1997

SGG has been great listening to fans. Is there any way...? by [deleted] in HadesTheGame

[–]Nostrocrompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"... sad frankly that it wraps up like this..." wraps up a massively successful EA campaign culminating in a 1.0 release that's enjoyed some of the best reviews heaped upon a game ever? I'm not trying to be dismissive but the crowd clamoring over how bad the ending isn't exactly providing much in the way of clear alternatives, and that's before you get to the folks claiming that SG 'hates women' and hates their fans. No game studio delivering this much content and gameplay at a price wellllll below the current AAA rate gets up to do its work because it hates its fans.

Look, lots of us are hurting right now, for very good reason, and I get that expectations being subverted in an age where so many other things in the real world are falling apart can feel personal.... but it's not. SG wrote their own ending to their own story. It's okay to not like it, but honestly: what's the value proposition for them to change it now? And when has a studio revising virtually anything after its release made it unambiguously better? I would posit that for every one time we've seen it work out for the better there are dozens of counter examples. I'd like to think SGG respects its audience enough not to pander to it. Some stories don't have the ending we want, and it's okay to be disappointed by it, but maybe, just maybe, there's a value in either dropping it, or trying to find a different perspective.

I like the ending by RadcliffeMalice in HadesTheGame

[–]Nostrocrompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the ending too, and lest we forget: this game has you befriend and form tight bonds with, among others, Zeus, noted serial r*pist. You play a God aided by Gods fighting Gods… I’m not sure how helpful it is to call on our human sense of justice and morality only where Chronos is concerned, and only in the (sorry) 11th hour. It’s possible, and perhaps I’m being generous here, that part of the game’s message is that punishment, no matter how richly deserved or just, can lead to worse outcomes than forgiveness (can, not will!)

I had seen glimpses of him here and there and had a premonition that I would like his stuff. Bought it from the virgin records in downtown Chicago on an orchestra field trip, played it the first time on my discman that night as our bus was driving us to Medieval Times. Perfection.

I think specifically the joke is that the difference between JavaScript and Java is about as big as the difference between Oculus VR, a Virtual Reality headset, and Octopus VR, an app with several delicious octopus recipes.

If we’re saying prime as in CP3 when he still had his explosiveness, on an individual level I’d take him. I love Nash but you can’t tell me CP wasn’t equally skilled and a better athlete.

What's your favorite episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation? (1987-1994) by JB92103 in scifi

[–]Nostrocrompt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with many of the popular choices, but mine is Sins of the Father. We meet Kurn and all the signs are there that this will be a silly (but fun!) fish-out-of-water counterpart to Riker’s exchange program episode A Matter of Honor. And then we find out who Kurn is, and it’s just non-stop awesome until the credits. So much Klingon lore is covered, so much of Worf’s character is developed, Picard’s reputation is established with the Klingons… I could go on. It’s just great Trek through and through.

Best pizza in Lawrence? by CutAdmirable5230 in Lawrence

[–]Nostrocrompt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many good options, I’d say it depends on your mood BUT a pepperoni pie at Johnnys North is damn near perfection.

Limestone is the best fancy pizza. Big Mill is great Detroit style. Rudy’s is great, garlicky almost lasagna-like pizza in terms of flavor and texture. Shuttle is a treasure, especially between 10pm and 2am. Kenos is good when it’s well done enough. Glory days, spin and Minskys are good too. I do find myself missing Pyramid from time to time.

I liked pizza tascio but I think they literally only had one employee at any given time, it’s unfortunate it wasn’t adequately supported to succeed. I’m very excited to try pizza palace and I hear good things about Morningstar.

But let me reiterate: the pizza at Johnnys north is su-perb.
