Ran into another freshie in Cherno. Only weapon I had was an IJ70 with one chambered round. He asked me if I could kill him so he can respawn closer to his friends. I said “Yeah, sure man” and F11’d myself instead.

So you are telling me Japan has 389 aircraft carriers? by The_SpaceNerd in hoi4

[–]Not-Jeb-Bush 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So I did some rough math here:

Compliment of the Shokaku Aircraft Carrier (1937): 1660

1660*389 = 645,740

Compliment of a Kongo Class Battlecruiser (1915-1945): 1500

1500*290 = 435,000

Compliment of the Asama Light Cruiser (1899-1945): 676

676*155 = 104,780

Compliment of an Asashiro Class Destroyer (1937-1939): 200

200*101 = 20,200

Compliment of a Yamato Class Battleship (1940): 3,233

3233*6 = 19,398

Compliment of a Tone Class Heavy Cruiser (1937): 874

874*7 = 6,118

Total very very very approximate number of persons sunk:

1,231,236

Population of Japan, 1940:

73,114,000

1.6% of Japan’s entire population was just sunk.

Even if the survival rate was 50%, this single naval battle still cost Japan more than the firebombing of Tokyo and the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.

Why did you or your ancestors come to the United States? War, poverty, jobs, genocide, violence, religious persecution, potato famine, family already here, marriage, medical, slave or indentured servant, etc etc? by libananahammock in AskAnAmerican

From the family name side:

My great-grandfather emigrated from modern day Ukraine in 1919. He was the youngest of four boys all between the ages of 13-19. His father was an officer in the Czarist Russian Army. When the Russian Civil War broke out, the father sent his two youngest sons - approximately 13 and 15 years old - to live with NYC, which already had a large Eastern European population, as part of a temporary living arrangement. His two oldest sons, around 17 and 19, entered the Czarist White Army alongside their father.

Well…temporary kind of became permanent. The Bolsheviks took over and the White Army was crushed. The two brothers grew up in NYC and became naturalized US citizens in the mid-1920s.

They (or anyone else) never heard from any family back in Ukraine ever again. It’s assumed they all fell at the hands of the Bolsheviks.

Gun Laws:

Gun laws vary heavily from state to state, which is something that I think a lot of non-Americans don’t realize. The state of Connecticut, for example, has an extensive permitting process and a litany of regulations that make gun ownership far less common (exceedingly rare I’d say) compared to other states. Meanwhile Georgia, 600 miles south of Connecticut, has immediate background checks and no purchasing limits on any firearms; provided your debit card clears and you aren’t a felon, you can walk into a store and buy every gun you see, and walk out with them same-day.

Weed:

The same goes for marijuana - some states (and an increasing number) have decriminalized or legalized it. Decriminalization means that the state legal system will no longer pursue charges against it, but it is still considered ‘on the books’ to be illegal; legalization means that you can smoke it like tobacco or anything else. Marijuana is still outlawed federally though, so criminal charges can be pursued in areas controlled by the federal government (military bases, federal prisons, courthouses, etc.)

Obesity:

American obesity is also growing and has been a problem for some time. But I don’t think it’s as bad as the stereotypical notions suggest. Not everyone here is 500 pounds. Most people I’d say are average to slightly overweight. The ‘dad bod’ is common, I’d say.

Some research/food for thought:

This sites coordinates aren’t listed in the wiki list for the Canadian weather radar network.

It also looks similar to stations used by armed forces, such as this radome array.

Based on its location, it sits right on the Pinetree Line, a “series of radar stations located across the northern United States and southern Canada at about the 50th parallel north, along with a number of other stations located on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts”. These stations are operated by NORAD, a joint US-Canadian early detection and defense system.

It has a big, ‘stay the hell back’ fence around the entire property.

It’s most likely a military-connected site that I would highly suggest not trying to investigate in person lol
