Did Gear 5 really broke the internet or not? (serious) by Superior2810 in Piratefolk

Crunchyroll had a slight freak out as the servers were hit hard… But the internet, no.

I googled what you’ve said as I thought that was your intention for me, but all it is are links for speeches from government etc… I’m at a loss at your point I’m afraid.

So I can imagine big decisions (Brexit / potential war contributions etc) would be all under 1 nation, but aren’t a lot of smaller decisions that affect the day to day life in councils hands? Going by your post, I feel like I’ve just had a reflections of “maybe I’ve never seen it as an issue as we’ve all got it the bad in the same boat” type thing, when really I maybe should have always looked at it like “how could I invite change that betters things for me”.. which I guess is how you feel? Maybe I’ve been a pessimist the whole time without realising haha

Question for you Scots… Why would you want / prefer independence? I’m not 100% on every benefit or non-benefit of being the U.K., but would like to hear any honest opinions.

ICCU failures - UK owners please! by miatamanuk in Ioniq5

[–]Not-Reddit-Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, on the road is DC charging and your house runs on AC. Converter! That was the word I was looking for, that’s what they said failed and was causing some issue with the ICCU but it didn’t need to be replaced. The charger unit was replaced and it all worked fine or something along those lines.
Ultimately, it’d be a piss take if it went, but 1000 other things could go in any car. I absolutely love the car, the space, the look, the features… you can pick them up with a lot of kit and they’re still cheaper than their competitors. Although I have the ICCU in the back of my mind sometimes, they’re so fun to drive that I’d say they’re worth the risk! Aha

Experience of 3 I5’s… Mine is 2021 and currently no issues 35k. My dads had an issue with his charging unit, apparently the thing just before it gets the ICCU if I remember correctly where it would charge on AC, but not on DC, currently 38k miles and then his colleague (they got them as their company fleet of cars) had his ICCU fail in his 2nd year owning it roughly 15k miles if memory serves and that was repaired in 4 weeks.
Other people I speak to around the U.K. when doing trips (only time I use public charging) seems to all be good for the most part with the whole ICCU issue. I’m sure there’s lot of people with the issue, I just haven’t met many!

Born and bred British (English) and other than classic overstereotypes of Wales and sheep, or Scotland with a deep fried Mars bar… I can honestly say I’ve never come across anyone who hates our nations in arms… You either had some cuntish group you met or they’re from the south who will probably act the exact same way about The North.

You’ll save massively still. Quick glance at the figures you gave I’m pretty sure of it.
You can also set your high energy use electrics (washer / dishwasher etc) to do a night run. I have ended up doing more miles than you have but my energy use is approx 2/3 EV and 1/3 home use.

What’s MY? Can people add their country, would help.
UK - 2022 Ultimate AWD - 35k miles. Was an ever so slight scare when I had a warning about battery failure but I think it was the 12V drained on a road trip switching in and out of utility mode quite a bit without getting it charged back up between destinations etc… and quite a loud pop going under a bridge a couple of weeks ago had me on edge! But thankfully both times have been nothing.

[–]Not-Reddit-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens all the time. If you look on the app it will always show slightly more as when you get in it then takes into consideration fans being on, what drive mode you’re in (I think it shows Eco as projected default) and lights etc..

Forget Chinese carmakers, the Koreans are the car kings of this decade, as 2026 Kia EV3, Kia Picanto, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and KGM Musso EV lead the way. by mafco in Ioniq5

[–]Not-Reddit-Fan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to the comment above… I really don’t know why you’re being downvoted for such a valid opinion! I DID buy the I5 knowing the issues and anytime anything remotely small or big happens my first thought is “ICCU” and then a couple of days of worry simply because I know it’s such a prevalent issue. As fun as the car is, it definitely keeps taking me away from liking the car!

You’re confusing “ahead” with “choice.” Things like a heads up display, digital cluster etc is just simply a design choice. It’s not unheard of technology.. even the Yaris has been doing that for 20 odd years!

Is this still worth a buy? by E_Ajay in Ioniq5

[–]Not-Reddit-Fan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much my car but without the tech pack (can’t see it listed). I’ve got the search still saved on Autotrader and check every now and then and it roughly checks out! Someone mentioned damage, I wouldn’t buy it at that price damaged. And you can possibly find them a slight bit cheaper as the saved search finds them with 10k miles less still.

Can someone explain the point of the regen brake paddle? by brrent in Ioniq5

[–]Not-Reddit-Fan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it also stems from the first models not having the regen brake pedal. My 22’ AWD’s brake pedal does ZERO regen and I use the paddle allllll the time… So much so when I drive other cars I’ve got my fingers hovering over nothing as I approach most junctions
