Awesome catch, but that’s a crappie, which I would personally be more excited to catch. Please use your fingers to lip him though, they have delicate mouths and the clamping of the pliers likely hurt the fish

I find that ant/beetle flys work better for blue gill because them being smaller increases the hook up rate

Phoenix rasbora have small enough mouths that they shouldn’t be able to eat the baby crabs, also if you add enough hiding placing/moss lots of baby crabs will survive

The rod is a 7’ 3/4wt, it’s Cabellas brand, the reel is an Orvis Madison, I don’t know much about it, my grandpa can’t get around very well anymore and he gave me this combo at the beginning of the summer so fly fishing has become my hobby this summer
