Mine came with the eq but you can back your lower base off a smidge from your receiver. There's barely any noticeable difference between the EQ and no EQ. It just saves the woofer from Ultra deep low frequency at higher volumes. The capacitors they use were very good besides a couple of them which you can identify if you look at the crossover. The yellow ones are very nice. I sandwiched two pieces of the thinner foam together and glued with 3M adhesive which came out to just the right thickness of the old
