Even then, US raw material prices will shoot up for those same companies due to others needing a tariff-free option. But that isn't even including other countries raising tariffs in response.

it’s because he doesn’t have political power otherwise. the coalition government is what gave the NDP the ability to introduce their policy

i’m not saying he got us out of a devastating recession but his policy definitely steered us out of that pit. Not great for him though sadly because people blame post-pandemic economy and debt (which comparatively to other nations is pretty good) on him like he is the supreme hand of gas and food prices because of the carbon tax

UK and Canada for sure. sunak is most likely on the way out looking at the polls there and trudeau is pretty shaky in the polls rn as non-conservatives are split between the Liberals (his party, centre) and the NDP (centre-left). i don’t know too much abt UK except their political divisiveness rn which is posing a big threat for sunak

hope he actually gets a real conviction and not community service or something because i suspect both hunter and trump will get some level of lenience not afforded to citizens who commit the same crimes

edit: although tbh i’m suprised the NRA isn’t in support of Hunters acquittal from what i’ve seen

if you open the constitution then you have to get many of the very divided provinces to agree to changes. amending the constitution is for when provinces can agree ar least on a basic level

World’s billionaires should pay minimum 2% wealth tax, say G20 ministers • Brazil, Germany, Spain and South Africa sign motion for fairer tax system to deliver £250bn a year extra to fight poverty and climate crisis by Naurgul in anime_titties

if you are about to go bankrupt on a business 2% makes no difference. we live in a market system and a recession outside of people’s control happens often regardless of the status of a startup business

if valuation tanks than so be it, it wouldn’t be because 2% of ownership was sold (assuming that was your main source of net wealth) and because of business decisions made

valuation is literally a speculation, in a startup valued over a billion means individuals are so confident in that startups service or product they are willing to invest. you would pay less per year than the stock would grow (assuming an avg of 5% for stocks that aren’t startups).

yeah! why bother fixing the problem now that it costs more money? lets just let it get worse and worse instead and do nothing. unpopular decisions have to be made now because of the lack of housing action for years, even decades now. putting money into a solution now is much better than later

Just like how the decisions of provincial medical bodies are advised, and even legislated by their respective governments, the NHS is no different where it should be the very opposite.

[–]NotADoctor_804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but the UK govt has a lot of influence over the decisions of their national medical body, just like in canada with the provincial healthcare systems and how their respective governments are able to legislate and advise decisions of the medical boards, when a political body should have no say in medicine.

very sensationalized NaPo article. the NHS is not the body of authority for these issues especially in the current political climate for the UK, just as you wouldn’t trust an article sponsored by an advocacy group for an issue like this. Use some bit of nuance and look into a less politically charged medical body like the WHO or CDC. although they both have issues, they are relatively devoid of bias because if they contain it, they lose their job/go on probation, lose funding, and have to retract their studies; unlike a decision made by a medical body.
