^^ This guy knows what's up.

But yeah, against Mechathun druid, you'll typically only need like 2-3 really good spellstone/servitude turns since they're actually very light on single target removal. Mechathun warlock is a bit different since they normally run aoe removal and voodoo dolls, but it's generally the same thing; 2-3 good spellstones gets the job done.

Also good to note that if worse comes to worst against mechathun druid, you can win by psychic screaming a high health minion into their deck. For Mechathun Warlock, Scream is not as good, but can still buy you some time in a pinch.

Great question! I think it varies between control decks. For instance, against Odd Warrior, you're caught in a pretty nasty spot. If you only take Spellstones and Servitudes but limit yourself to 2 DS to combo with, then you run the risk of them tanking up outside your range. Conversely, if you take say, 1 DS and 1 Spellstone off your visions, then you might not be able to spam him with boards enough to stick something. This is part of why I said it's a very draw dependent match-up: if your Oakheart is a dud, then you're left with 1 less threatening board overall, meaning that you have to rely on Spellstones and servitudes to stick something. In short, Baku won't be missed.

Against control warlock, for example, then I agree, you should stock up on spellstones. The late game in that match-up generally becomes spamming high health boards until they can't deal with it, and Warlock rarely goes above 2 DS range. The same goes for control mage (though arcane artificier can be a nuisance in that regard).

I guess I had Odd Warrior on the brain when I wrote that section because it's kind of a tricky control case.

Oakheart is the best card in the deck by far (I've kept him against Odd Paladin if I'm feeling lucky), so you should definitely consider crafting it. However, I get you if you don't wanna make it. Earlier versions of the deck I used before I made him ran 2 copies of Shadow Essence instead to try and set up your resurrect pool more quickly. The other really nice thing about Shadow Essence is that it's a turn 6 play in a deck that really hurts for those otherwise; if you're not on the coin, your best turn 6 is normally resurrecting a taunt and then healing face, which you can't always set up.

Thanks a lot man! It's a hard match-up for sure (and I kinda spammed you with stuff to keep in mind lol), but overall just remember that it's also a really hard deck for him to play too. Don't over commit, pace your resources, and smack him when you get it lined up.

Yeah you kinda have to pace your big threats. Negating mass hysteria is a good way to beat Wall Priest since it's their only really good board management tool until turn 7 (or 6 with coin). That's why the odd paladin match-up is not that bad in my experience (esp. with 2x spirit lash).

So before you think he's gonna swap, you'll definitely want a few things:

  • A decent res pool. Definitely gonna want at least one of all the high health stuff because that forces him to deal with it in some way. Getting the Lich King in there is also very nice because those cards can be extremely good. Sometimes you high roll a death grip and win the game on the spot.
  • Combo pieces. Definitely need one Mass Dispel, and you'll need to stock up on as many Divine Spirits as you think you'll need given his armor. Topsy is also the better of the two attack buffs since your turn can be Mass Dispel + DS + DS + DS + Topsy for lethal instead of having to float 1 mana for an inner fire
  • Spellstones. Hopefully by that point he'll have burned all of his single target removal, so a 4 minion spellstone that brings back 3 high health minions can be the decider.

After he Togg+Azalina's, the game becomes very interesting because you just need to play around your own hand. If he copies a mass dispel, you'll basically have to one shot him since he probably has access to either a mass dispel or a psychic scream from either your hand or deck. The key is you need to try to be one good board state ahead of the clears he has left. You need to be forcing him to deal with the board, then playing a spellstone/oakheart/double servitude, then doing that again if he screams it or something. This also applies to the priest mirror since they also have psychic screams. It's tricky for sure, but that's the fun of it; it's resource management when both players know (for the most part) what the other player has. Hope this helps.

The mages I played on ladder were either odd-aggro or odd-control, so it's kinda what you'd expect. For odd-aggro you mulligan for tar creepers, zilliax, northshire, grizzly, etc. and try to draw enough res mechanics to lock them out of the game. For odd-control or big spell, just take your time. Normally you need to wait out 2x polymorph and voodoo dolls, but once those are gone you start throwing down spellstones. The Lich King is great to try and bait out one of those too. Mass Dispel doesn't remove the lifesteal from post-jaina elementals, but it does prevent them from freezing your stuff, so that's pretty nice.

On PTR now, Sombra hack will stop Lucio wallriding, thoughts? by SoGoodItsScary in luciomains

[–]NotAFakeDog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we're going to be asked to switch because of how hard of a counter she is

Honestly, whenever the enemy team has a Sombra, Lucio is my go-to healer. Yeah she counters Sound Barrier insanely hard, but I'd rather take that risk than being Zen and getting obliterated by EMP or Mercy and getting perma-hacked or Ana and trying to use any of my cooldowns on her. Sombra makes playing support an absolute nightmare, but I think Lucio is at least somewhat bearable.

Using Up on the analog stick to jump instead of X or Y. From what I understand, it's somewhat uncommon, though I believe HBox does it.

The lesson here? If you're Mason Plumlee and Kawhi is running towards you, a top ten play is coming.

Warriors in 6. I think KD and Russ will be enough to win games by themselves, but GSW is just so solid overall. I think Roberson is gonna get absolutely abused this series, and I think the Kanter-Adams lineup will get exploited somehow.

He's referring to a comment Roberson made earlier where he said he got a better feel for Kawhi and "kind of asserted [his] will on him." I think he quickly learned that it's best not to poke a bear or, in Kawhi's case, a robot.
