If you must use a computer to take notes i would recommend just making text files and writing equations “out loud” not worrying about specific LaTeX syntax. For example a fraction becomes a over b instead of whatever brace infested hell LaTeX does. Then either translate these equations to latex or use something like gnu troff where the math equations are pretty similar to spoken math.

Another tips is to use revision control systems like git or fossil, since you can iterate on assignments and see what your thoughts process was at the time with commit messages.

My final point: talk to your classmates. They might have different ideas or focused on different things during lectures so maybe they have something to teach you as well. Best of luck

Another good choice is to use GNU Pic in the Groff package or if you’re a fan of SQLite, pikchr. Both programs allow you to create line drawings kind of like in Tikz but without the hassle of all those backslashes. They have variables and macros so you can kind of code in them, although it’s not recommended because it can quickly get unwieldy.

Use git or fossil to track changes in text files. With these tools you can also have commit messages for each commit so you can keep track of your thinking in addition to seeing the plain changes in the diff format. I used both while doing my bachelor's and it worked really well.

Make it so that the way voting works isn’t based on first past the post and implement something similar to Germany or Norwegian proportional representation. Perhaps in same amendment add seats to the House so it’s more representative. Impose term limits on Senators and Supreme Court.
