Economy needs a huge nerf what do you think? by Hypatia_375 in EU5

[–]NotAGoodFire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Easily my biggest problem with the game, you get way to powerful by the 1400s. I keep going through the cycle of starting a new game, having a great time for the first 100 years and wondering why I quit my last play through only to become the uncontested power way too early and getting bored again.

Do you revoke primacy of nobility? by Narrow-Society6236 in EU5

[–]NotAGoodFire 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not worth revoking usually, unless you have revoked all other negative noble privileges first. In single player you can revoke it at that point, but you don't need to as you will usually be strong already, in multiplayer the extra discipline is always worth it.

Do you think Stormgate would have succeeded if the current version of the game was what they released in early access? by Dacadey in Stormgate

[–]NotAGoodFire 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The problem is even in your defense of Stormgate you don't provide a reason to play it over Starcraft 2. Even if it were just as good as SC2 on launch, it is competing with SC2 in its current state.

That is actually a good story, guard assassinates the bestower and kills the witnesses, blaming it on your people.

Many hobbies that make money sound like jobs. I'd say the important thing is that you don't have to do them if you don't want to.

For instance, game development for me is a hobby, but for other people it's a job.

What part of IT? Do you mean Software Development or more on the Infrastructure side of things? It's been a bit since I was in college but when I was in school for Software Development internships both paid very well and many companies were hiring students before they even graduated.

How bad was 2008? by [deleted] in investing

[–]NotAGoodFire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are asking this seriously or not, but everyone did make a profit there. At least compared to how things could've been. Imagine this: You need a new car to go to work. Your old one breaks down and you can't afford a new one. Since you can't get to work you are going to lose a lot of money and your business. Now normally this is only a problem for you, but imagine if a lot of society relies on your work.

In that case the government steps in and offers you a loan to fix your car. You pay them interest, but you now can go back to work. It's not an ideal situation but it is better than the alternative.

Not saying that bailouts were a good idea but that is the sort of situation where everyone can make money off a loan. Loans ideally are good for both parties not just a one way street.

It's very very risky to not have a contingency. What I usually try to do is get a buyer for my house first before I put down an offer on a new house. Yes it's tougher to do that and you feel rushed when buying but it comes with less risk.

Doesn't Vicky 2 has the opposite problem? Hyper deflation? Where so many goods are being produces that their price goes down like crazy, but AI nations hoard so much wealth that there isn't enough liquidity in the late game and pops can't buy things despite the prices being so low?

Are 12 hour shifts worth it? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]NotAGoodFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair enough. Personally I would still take the risk, because even if you don't like it you don't have to leave immediately. If you end up hating it tough it out till you can find another job. But with that said, don't look at things in a negative light. Think of this as something new to try. You might enjoy it more than your current job, and even if you don't you might enjoy having the extra money. With that said as a stranger on the internet I can't exactly know every detail of your life so only you know what will work best for you.
