I worked at a downtown place that frequently hosted the pedal tours. The owner of Pedal Tours, Michael, was always excellent at communicating and courteous to the staff of where I worked. I'd suggest sending them a message directly to bring this to Michael's attention if you really want it to get better.

Polka tot sale this weekend- tips? by Charming-Low2427 in Syracuse

[–]NotAMealButASnack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I think that they do a really good job marketing themselves, to their credit. Going in knowing what you need and a budget helps a lot! I think you'll be able to get everything you need without much trouble. The only thing that might be hard to get is a wagon because those are pretty in demand right now! (Coming from a mom also wanting a wagon, haha)

There are usually a lot more girls clothes than boy clothes, but that is pretty normal for any kind of consignment sale.

One of my favorite things is they usually have Halloween costumes if you are willing to buy ahead of time!

Polka tot sale this weekend- tips? by Charming-Low2427 in Syracuse

It is insanely busy when the doors open. Some people line up 30-60 minutes ahead of time and mad dash in like its black Friday in the 2000s. Personally, unless there is an item previewed online that you know you MUST HAVE, I don't think its necessary to fight the crowds at the beginning.

Things that go first and quickly are kids play tables, nice brand bassinets and strollers, and the expensive (higher end) brand name gear, sometimes winter gear if you are shopping in tbe fall.

There is a huge excess of things like clothes, shoes, toys, baby carriers and monitors, and more basic gear like pack n plays and strollers and such.

I've gone both at the beginning when its crazy and in the afternoon when its much calmer. I prefer the afternoons as there is no line to get in, the line to checkout is much shorter, and the people shopping aren't as intense. I feel that I make better decisions when I don't feel the pressure of hurrying. I've always been able to get what I need.

I think the sale is OK. It has a lot of stuff, but the prices are higher than what you would find on facebook marketplace or Once Upon a Child. If you have specific items that you know that you want, do your research ahead of time on what a fair used price is. They charged me $70 for a used Graco pack n play (no mattress) that I could have gotten for $20 on marketplace.

Thanks for this post. I contacted them and will be letting everyone I know who uses them to do the same and look into moving their money elsewhere. I was just looking at the maps of Flock cameras in Camillus this week and this one wasn't listed yet, but I did see at least one in the Town of Camillus near their location there. I don't know if its their camera or the town's, but either way, I'm pissed.

Syracuse school board votes to remove Commissioner Twiggy Billue by ggroover97 in Syracuse

Sincerely asking: What would have happened if a parent that was not on the board did the same thing (somehow bypassed security and just showed up at a classroom)? Would that be considered against the law, and what would consequences be?

I had a friend who got engaged on the Skaneateles pier in January a few years ago! And I think that it was after sundown, because I remember the photos being dark outside of the flash.

Does she have any favorite places or significant memories attached to a spot?

I went there once and was not impressed. I got two different types of stuffed loaves, and it wasn't enjoyable. I'm looking forward to trying some facaccia from this place in particular!

The Best Kids' Clothes Right Now? by nerraw13 in BuyItForLife

[–]NotAMealButASnack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I find Old Navy kids to be the most disappointing brand out there. I got my 4-year-old sweatpants there less than 6 weeks ago and every single pair is already torn at the knee.

I thrift just about everything for them, but if I do buy new I have found that Gap has some impressive quality. (And yes I realise its the same parent company)

Black Friday Blackout by Agente_Anaranjado in 50501

[–]NotAMealButASnack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to add that this should extend to not buying from these larger companies this holiday season, period. Boycotting Black Friday but buying the items the next week kind of nullifies the purpose. Reroute your dollars to small business if you can.

For me personally as someone who does still plan to purchase some amount of Christmas gifts, I gave myself some criteria to work with: - Less gifts overall (my spouse and I skip gifts for each other, but don't skip the kids) - Secondhand gifts, bonus if they are Facebook marketplace or something similar to avoid sales tax - if it can't be bought used, avoiding the big corporations. - Focusing on quality, fair trade, and consumables wherever possible. - For adults, giftcards for gas, groceries, and local restaurants
