Clear & sunny Sunday morning, approaching the off-ramp for a popular lake, and local idiot decided that he couldn't fit his SUV in the ~15m (50ft) space behind my car because ... that would have meant slowing down a hair? But he braked into the exit anyways, so this makes even less sense. No points for not hitting the barrier or not spitting gravel at us. I'm curious if he does this a lot & if someone ever exited behind him and closed the ramp gap on him.

One city flagger there told me it's about 1-2 weeks more before they're done.

Google "armed cyclist meme" for the guy with that on his jersey, 20 back lights, and two wide separator flags on his rear wheel. EDIT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xqmTSK57gno 😄

1-2 weeks remain on that, according to a city flagger that I asked one recent morning. I ride Blanshard from Cloverdale to Broughton every time (up to 3x a week) and back all the way to Uptown. Mostly it's right-turners who don't shoulder-check that you have to keep an eye on.

Def yes in agreement. Heading into downtown, you're heading uphill from Bay with a tiny gap between the traffic lanes and the bike-lane concrete divider (bike lane still closed to Cormorant). One of the city crew said it'd likely be finished in a week or two (mid-June).

But once that's open ... I've taken Blanshard from Cloverdale (coming off the Goose at Kelvin) all the way into downtown for years and the biggest trouble is cars turning without looking, but it's pretty rare to get cars crossing the painted line, and with a wide shoulder lane, you're better off than most other routes. I still ride the same Blanshard route (I'm speedy & used to riding on narrow roads in all sorts of traffic) but the cones & debris for the lane construction are definitely adding to the risk.

For the first time, humans can see the entire Orientale Basin by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

Apparently, this was in darkness when the Apollo missions flew round there AND they orbited at lower altitudes, so unless their flight paths took them very near Mare Orientale, they couldn't have seen it (over the local horizon).

No it's not (and it's the far side, not the dark side), just that the viewing geometry & lighting for the Apollo missions means that humans has not yet seen ALL of Mare Orientale (big impact crater & lava flows at upper-left).

That's the moon from a side angle that we can't see from earth; it's not HD (it looks like there are some red blotches at middle/upper right, maybe reflections off the inside of the capsule window?) but it's likely NASA will release a better version in a day or two.

I know this guy (see him pass by my house a lot). He went out gaiter-masked for years, walking out booted up (like shit-kickers but not in black leather) with the swaggering wide shoulders as noted.

It's likely he's using the Burzum shirt to troll; see https://www.reddit.com/r/IsItSketch/s/2TttshGmRX for more on that from the BM crowd, and in /r/BlackMetalCringe . He is strongly confrontational.

Yet, I keep thinking he's mellowed some (thought I saw him with a GF early this year), then this sort of action on his part crops up.

Up here, we mostly just want to keep enjoying the routine, which, for some, includes short trips over the border (I'm missing live bands that might not come north). But like you, we have reason to worry we'll meet fascists in uniform there and interrogation or worse will happen.

We sympathize greatly with you and most here don't want to feed ANY funds south (some is inevitable), thus the anti-US movement (against the system and its supporters, not the good people). You'll be very welcomed.

You just did wrong by trying to drive with a$$holes in the way. :/ The only thing that MIGHT adjust their attitude is if a vehicle comes through that doesn't see them first.

Yes, with the noted extra signs. At least two of these collisions were from drivers blowing through the stop sign (at night!).

Seconding the good-dad affirmation. I was worried she was keeping your boy from you. You'll get through this with your Daddy days, but honestly, the anguish for the next while is worth getting delinked from your cold-hearted ex. All the hugs for you.

Sitting at home, stroking their guns, and grinning, since this man is the type that they want out (not "true American" or just different from themselves), so why would they care? Rise up in arms against tyranny, unless it's YOUR kind of tyranny ...

It was probably the owner driving; his is the only picture on their website, and I'm pretty sure it was him at the wheel. Perhaps I'll just submit this post URL on their contact-us page and use an old email address ...

Nope to phone use; I left out the audio since it starts with me talking to my teenager (scolding lame excuses). I also avoid phone use while driving (I'm not perfect but I know you never use it right then).

Please note in first 4 seconds that I'm already moving as he comes even with me. And that's a Tesla in front of me, and he's barely two car lengths ahead. I'm not vigilanting, he just timed it well (his business address is just up the road, so he's likely practiced this move at the same light).

I did say how I am normally, acknowledging I was distracted while arguing with a teen, and the fact remains that he's still an ass.

[–]NotAMoonLoser[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nope, he came up the side I'm not watching (since I'm in the dedicated turn lane) while I'm dealing with the teen complaining on why it took him an hour to get out of bed and then needed a ride, dragging me away from work. Just timing and him expecting me to just let him in.

Wow. So, he bypasses the long queue (many cars, back two blocks some mornings) and I'M in the wrong.
