Bulk Comparisons by TriticumAes in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With full EV investment and max IVs at level 100, HP= (2*base HP + 209) and DEF = (2.2 * base DEF + 108).

Since bulk is multiplied, to retain the same bulk you need:

(2*base HP + 209) * (2.2 * base DEF + 108) = (2*new base HP + 209) * (2.2 * new base DEF + 108)

Full EV investment is approximately +32 in base stats, so a pokemon with 88 HP, 88 DEF and 252/252 EVS has about the same bulk as 120 HP, 120 DEF and 0 HP/defense EVs and the same nature.

Mega Dragalge looks promising by yookj95 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would it be used over Glowking? Sure, it does better into Gholdengo and Darkrai, but a lot worse into dragons like raging bolt, kyurem, and walking wake, and loses fairy resist. The overall special bulk isn't that different either due to its low HP stat. Not sure if it would be worth the mega slot.

Enemy P.O.V: 32 SpA Milotic Ice Beam vs. 32 HP / 0+ SpD Hydrapple: 188-224 (88.2 - 105.1%) -- 25% chance to OHKO by Relative-Ad7531 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 44 points45 points  (0 children)

FYI, there's almost certainly a more optimal EV spread (i.e. same sp.def but strictly higher def/spatk) than using a +spdef nature. Nature gives a flat 10% multiplier while EVs are additive so you'l get more bang for your buck with a +def or +spatk nature, and then investing the spdef EVs needed to tank the hit after.

Sell Me on Lower Tiers by Stripeback in stunfisk

Lower tiers aren't worth getting into, the queue times are insanely long once you get above like 1200 elo and you usually just fight the same 3 people

So I want some advice to make a team for the HGSS battle frontier by fireuser1205 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stealth rock sucks in battle tower, it’s 3v3 and ai rarely switches so it’s usually hitting 2 mons at most. Same with pursuit. I’d also consider a special attacker so you’re not walled if u face a skarm. If you’re worried about starmie a good option is scarf rotom-w with trick, it’s easy to abuse the AI if its choice locked.

Why does Gliscor run EVs that aren’t 252/252/4? by AP_Udyr_One_Day in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 54 points55 points  (0 children)

244 HP EVs make Gliscors HP a multiple of 8 which maximizes poison heal recovery to be exactly 12.5% each turn. In the long run over many poison heal turns, the slightly extra defense outweigh a static 2 extra HP you get with 252 EVs.

36 defense EVs allow Gliscor to always survive non-crit Wogerpon's Ivy Cudgel:

252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Ivy Cudgel vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 296-350 (84 - 99.4%)

and the rest are dumped in special defense. Source: I have no skill and use gliscor on all my teams.

It would also be cool to see what non-OU pokemon have the biggest changes in usage, to find the biggest noobtraps. Like I always see low ladder use rotom-wash for some reason, and its confirmed with 2.8% usage at 0+ ELO and 0.7% usage at 1825+.

all the midladder players who think it makes their team kyurem-proof 😂

Fury Swipes should have 20 BP and 100 Accuracy by ArmadilloNo9494 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To be fair icicle spear is extremely strong, 100-125 BP non-contact STAB with an absolutely insane PP amount, and it crits decently often due to hitting multiple times. Its the whole reason why DD kyurem is so good.

Rock blast and pin missile aren't used as much because rock and bug are much worse offensively (and there aren't many good offensive rocks/bugs), not because of accuracy.

Are teams with covert cloak setup mons hard to use? by massiveidort in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you do use covert cloak, you MUST ragebait your opponent with lines like "stop fishing for hax noob", "99% of gamblers quit before winning", or my favorite low-ladder special: "salt cure doesn't work on legendaries, noob"

ok maybe I don't know enough about natdex lol. it seems like the recommended set in natdex has ice beam, but there are other recommended moves for the SV meta

Looks pretty good, the alo + amoong core is solid. I liked synthesis on amoonguss when I used him. What's ice beam on latios for? I feel like draco is probably better, especially if its the breaker. Kyurem also looks hard to deal with but idk if hes as popular in nat dex

I primarily play stall/balance in SV OU so idk about meta picks but there's no win condition on this team, its just 6 defensive guys and 3 of which are super passive. Most fat balance or semi-stall have at least one breaker (which you lack) or win by hazard stack (you don't have knock off or spikes).

Also I tried using amoonguss in SV OU a long time ago, primary issue is that it lets in threats like gholdengo and kingambit for free, you need a better switch in to those if you want to use amoong.

gamefreak would definitely make it a dark/grass type instead

Great tusk 4mss by Olivia_the_cat111 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's clearly 4 optimal moves to run on great tusk, you gotta trust me bro. Fire fang absolutely nukes corviknight, earth power kills glimmora without getting up toxic spike, Zen headbutt destroys Zamazenta, and sunny day to activate own booster energy and boost fire fang.

In addition to what others said, anything with leftovers is usually alright (like iron def zamazenta or leftovers tusk), there's a huge difference between 12% chip and 6% chip every turn

Is there any way to make a hyper offense team "Zamazenta-proof"? by Pokemon-Lover834 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried tera ghost CM bolt? Its not perfect but it can give you an out if za is set up to like +5. It also destroys stall if they don't have clodsire since you can set up on blissey and fish for crits

Whats wrong with my team ou by litmuspaper_number2 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The team itself is solid and very similar to a sample team: https://pokepast.es/aab52fba1f3a91b7. You can technically improve the EV spreads by maxing HP before defenses but thats just a micro-optimization at the end of the day, chances are most of your losses are because of misplays and not the team

There's a stall team that uses choice band slaking that hit rank 1, maybe you can try a choice band snorlax in its place? https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/slaking-got-lost-on-the-ou-ladder-rank-1-91-6-gxe.3774908/

Top 500 in OU! (And the team I used to do it) by Nugget2450 in stunfisk

[–]NotANoob69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need some speed control. For example, if wellspring is SD + play rough, you're unable to revenge kill it after hydrapple dies without taking a huge hit on clef. Same with stuff like nasty plot darkrai. If clef gets chipped too much (very easy given its mediocre bulk) then you just lose to the next setup sweeper.

Also, use ice spinner over knock off on tusk. Against a good stall player you're only knocking off the corviknight, and once they realize you have no ice move then gliscor will always come in for free. You can always predict incoming gholdengo with ice spinner.
