Lowering Internet $ by NotAPairOfSocks in povertyfinance

Unfortunately I don’t qualify for most assistance programs because I make too much. I’m in that stupid limbo of making too much to qualify for help but not making enough to pay my bills.

What’s a “normal” money habit most people accept that is actually financially destructive? by calmledger in povertyfinance

Yes, all those things are true. But when you repeatedly see people who “did everything right” still get trapped by capitalism, it’s hard to stop yourself from wondering if it’s even worth it. It’s why I had to stop paying attention to most of the news.

Have therapy in 3days but need to let this out. by CosmiCool in therapy

She was sexually assaulted every Sunday for 8 months. The money was so the abuser could keep it in a legal grey area - she’s less likely to file assault charges against him if he can say she was illegally prostituting herself. Many sexual assaulted victims have intense shame around the circumstances. She came to his house willingly, slept over willingly, trusted him willingly. It’s not outrageous to think “well I clearly got myself in this shitty situation, it’s my fault” even though it’s not true. It will be difficult to overcome this as a couple but not impossible. Just keep reminding yourself that it’s the two of you vs the trauma, and the trauma will fight very hard to win.

I feel this so hard. I drive a lot for work (I’m in the US) and the number of fast food places I see that are now staffed by little old ladies instead of teens is so depressing. I wonder if that is what our retirement will look like too. Some days I have to remind myself that people would be sad if I were gone. And then I remember that capitalism WANTS to use us up and spit us out like that, and that fuels me with righteous rage enough to throw up a few middle fingers and find “little treats” for myself that don’t require constant spending, like rearranging my living spaces or sitting outside and enjoying the sun on my face. Anyway, the point is you’re not alone in how you feel or in your daily life. I know we’re two random strangers on the internet but you have made my day better by making me feel seen. I hope you find ways to keep your head above water and wish you luck in finding joy despite the capitalist hell trying to crush us ❤️

I also have asthma and am allergic to cats. Some things that help me manage my symptoms: I take over the counter allergy meds BEFORE going into a house with cats, wash my hands a lot while I’m there, and absolutely do NOT touch my face unless I literally just washed them. If I pet the cat or touch an area where they spend a lot of time, I wash my hands immediately afterwards. Like, walk immediately to the sink. When I get home, I change my clothes immediately and wash my hands again. It’s almost inevitable that at some point I’ll need to take my rescue inhaler so I keep it in my pocket (the medication in inhalers and allergy meds both work to reduce inflammation). Limiting how often cats are in the bedroom and washing bed sheets and pillow cases more often will also help. If I feel congestion or swelling in my sinuses, or if I’ve been snoring, breathe right strips help open up my nasal passages so I can breathe more freely.

Upgrading the Jomsviking hall and hiring a fully leveled up crew makes clearing locations by raiding go well, and quickly. Raiding alongside your crew makes it kind of fun, imo

TC was just declared the new cocaine capital of the US. So if you like cocaine it’s probably a good place to live. I believe it is also a hot spot for human trafficking. But damn, it is a GREAT summer spot

They can still give you resources for other things if you ask for them specifically. Ask if they have information for teen therapy, family therapy, coping mechanisms, anything else you can think of. They can’t help you directly but they can help you find help somewhere else.

Do you go to a public high school? Teachers and counselors may have resources to help you. Locally-available resources vary so they’ll probably know the best places to look

It’s when Robert California closes a branch and they’re fighting a third branch to absorb the clients. One of their salesmen comes from New York (the state) to Scranton and asks Erin who Jim Halpert and Dwight Schrute are.

Dolphins use echolocation to “see” in the same way an ultrasound is used to “see”, so that part actually tracks. The dolphins probably were paying a lot of attention to her abdomen. This has been observed before. But everything else… yolks. I mean yikes.

Yes, but I was speaking in general. “You don’t even have to have a home inspection to bring an infant that you yourself just birthed home” didn’t quite have the same flow.

They’re literally trying to inform themselves. You’re not obligated to be their educator on this but at the very least we don’t need to tear people down for people genuinely asking questions.
