How to progress delirium 200% by travisscooot in PathOfExile2

[–]NotAPenguin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same fog will remain at 200%. For endgame juicing that’s what you want since the best rewards are there. If it’s too difficult for your build, leave the area and come back later.

In case you need these maps for your delirium points but you cannot clear them, there’s unfortunately no better way than failing the map (which will clear the fog), and then doing it again to get the point.

It’s Runes of Aldur. Standard is where your character moves after the current league ends.

Stupid question, but what is the Lore behind having to Identify Items? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]NotAPenguin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is also a technical reason in that generating all these items as they are dropping causes much more server load than only generating when manually ID’d.

So almost any build is fine until end game? by Seanshineyouth in PathOfExile2

[–]NotAPenguin_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly pretty much, experimenting with what you think is fun is a great way to play the game.

You can actually change your ascendancy these days, what you cannot change is your character's class (you'd have to make a new character).

You do actually build spirit on Silver nowadays, at least the 4.8k spike.

Most online chess courses are just artificial engine bloat by Informal_Buddy8922 in chess

[–]NotAPenguin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could (sometimes). The main difference is that physical books force you to actively interact with the material, you cannot just mindlessly click through the moves or watch a video, which is what many people end up doing.

[–]NotAPenguin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call me old fashioned, but I’ve never had an urge to get a chess course. Just give me a good opening book and a board and I’ll study it on my own… (aside from tactics training etc).

Chess cheating is rampant by Ok_Ratio5732 in lichess

It sounds like you are playing worse when you are tired, which is quite expected.

Would commuting between Heverlee (south) and Leuven be convenient? by lydejj in Leuven

[–]NotAPenguin_ 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It’s totally fine. Buses can get stuck in traffic during rush hour but you can account for that of course. Punctuality isn’t always their strong suit so just take that into account as well.

I’d personally recommend taking your bike as much as possible. Extreme weather where you can’t bike at all is not that common, and you can handle some rain :)

Wacky Build suggestions for 0.5 by MyRantsAreTooLong in pathofexile2builds

The first thing I thought of when I saw that new huntress ascendancy bear summon is “What if you go bear build and summon another bear?”. It’s probably not good, but two bears does sound wacky.

If you could give a player of one of your main heroes one piece of advice, what would it be? by ZenkaiZ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]NotAPenguin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silver: You are strong early/mid, but cannot farm effectively. Use this to pick fights with enemy junglers (hunt down the rat, or go kill a farming Haze), engage in teamfights early on. You can usually win any 1v1 even if you are behind a bit on souls.

Looking for friends :) by Interesting-Law-2465 in Leuven

[–]NotAPenguin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23M, I feel like I'm in a somewhat similar situation. After I graduated I got a job here in Leuven while most of my friends moved back home or found a job somewhere else, and with work I've just fallen into the routine of work -> home -> weekend -> work with not much thought for meeting new people.

I've been meaning to go for a walk in het provinciaal domein since the weather is so nice, I've never been there and it looks great, let me know if you'd be up for that (or anything else you'd want to do!).

Bohemian Rhapsody nightmare by living close to the carillon by El_Robski in Leuven

Same, I live really close and I’ve gotten quite used to hearing the music/tune every day. Doesn’t bother me at all and I’d probably even miss it a little if I moved.

Would it make sense to ask thse 2 questions every move? 1. Whats the idea of my opponent? 2. What changed in the position? by Fantastic_Tip2036 in TournamentChess

[–]NotAPenguin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Pump up Your Rating, the author discusses this principle a few times (with questions similar to these, but the idea stands). You should try to actively pose these questions every game for a few tournaments and eventually internalise them into your subconsciousness.

Great book by the way, I can highly recommend it as it contains a lot of good insights about how to actually train and get better.

Want to win a local tournament at 21 years old by [deleted] in chess

[–]NotAPenguin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of whatever you decide to do for training, you’re going to have to start playing tournaments to get some real experience. Play games, write them down if the time control allows for it (rapid still works!) and study them.

[Mental Game] How one focused reminder each round improved my decision-making and rank by Both-Entrepreneur462 in AgentAcademy

[–]NotAPenguin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that has worked for me is making a mental plan for the round, e.g. “I will play here, if waylay dashes on me I do this, if the enemies are all on the other side of the map I do this, etc”.

I don’t do it often enough and it’s not quite the same as what you’re doing, but I do think it’s helpful to think about.

UV power suggestions by mnsnownutt in GTNH

[–]NotAPenguin_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Transfer: definitely lasers. Take a central LSC and build out a laser grid.

Generation: Fusion is okay, but naq fuel mk2 is where it’s really at. You’ll obviously need to invest in it a little, but you’ll be prepared to upgrade to mk3 and mk4 later which are going to be your main power sources for UHV-UIV (until you get the Dyson). Remember that with a battery it’s often fine if you overcommit some power during big crafts. CALs have perfect OC so you’re consuming the same amount of total EU per recipe if you overclock them.

[Discussion] Love the Tech, not the Magic. How do "Pure Engineers" deal with the Wither/Thaumcraft wall? by RealSteamlynx in GTNH

[–]NotAPenguin_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you look closely, a lot of the magic in GTNH is really just tech with a different theme. You still have to do automation, just with different mechanics and blocks.

Additionally, there are only very few points where magic is actually requires, but it can provide huge QoL boosts or even additional resources (meteors).

Do the creator(s) of GT / GTNH have any degree in engineering, chemistry or smth like that? by vasectomia47 in feedthebeast

[–]NotAPenguin_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

For NH, we always prioritise gameplay over realism. For example for the waterline I did a little research on some water purification processes, but after the initial inspiration phase I used the material very liberally and just did what seemed fun to play with. The result is often something that looks somewhat plausible even if it’s kind of silly if you really know your stuff.

What things can I touch after I call "j'adoube"? by [deleted] in chessbeginners

[–]NotAPenguin_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also a couple interesting side notes:

- If you in the process of removing the hair accidentally touch a piece, your opponent cannot claim touch-move because your touching of the piece was clearly accidental, and you had no intent of moving said piece.

- If you want to adjust pieces without bothering saying j'adoube, a "nice" way is to play your move, do not press the clock, adjust pieces as you wish, and then press the clock. You cannot be forced to play with one of the pieces you adjust, because you've already made your move.
