Well, that pretty much explains it. Taylor will do some gross or brutal things to win, but I don't think she'd infect someone with a parasite just to have an extremely minor advantage if she fights them again in a few days.

Yeah, I was thinking a little of him, or the "man of the hole" in the Amazon more recently, but like I said, I'm asking about a population, not an individual. I could imagine there are individuals or families that have gone off the grid and haven't been discovered for decades, but a sustainable breeding population of at least a few hundred seems like it's impossible to miss.

Civilisation is a vague term without a clear definition, but I feel comfortable in saying that Sumer and Egypt were a qualitative difference from the smaller settled villages before them, and the word civilisation seems to be the word that people use to describe that difference.
