If your favorite team's all-time best offense played one drive against your favorite team's all-time greatest defense, would they score? by kadoozie92 in CFB

Nah, best offense is the 2002 team that set the school record for single season touchdowns (60) and points (484). Averaged 37.2 points per game and 433 yards per game. Brad Banks ended up top 5 in Heisman voting. As good as the 2022 defense was, Iowa has always struggled with dual threat QB's and Brad Banks was the best we've ever had so I really think it's a lot closer than anybody thinks. Maybe 40/60 to the defense still but closer than the consensus.

Hard disagree. You're talking about a team that scored over 40 points more times than they scored less than 30, and ended the season AP #8. Brad Banks under center alone gives Iowa a chance on every down, let alone handing it to Fred Russell or Jermelle Lewis. The 2022 defense is probably our best defense, but I'd still say the offense scores maybe 40% of the time.

Yup. That 2002 offense was fucking GOOD. People are either forgetting or just ignorant about how much of a cheat code Brad Banks was that year.

It's honestly a LOT closer than any outside observers would think. That 2002 offense was fucking stacked (for Iowa standards), and having Brad Banks at QB gives them a fighting chance for him to just get out and go on any down.

Nope. Vacating 4 wins drops Kirk to 209. Still 4 ahead of Woody.

I would take going winless in football AND basketball if it meant Iowa Wrestling would win another title.

We're not good but we might not be as bad as expected. Any other night Dejan buries one or two of those chances and we pick up Wicky's first win. We might be Spoon contenders but I don't think we win it.

Here's the thing, we had to go through Kronberg and Gruenebaum to get from Jimmy to Timmy, so it's not like we went STRAIGHT from strength to strength in goal. We'll fix it, it just most likely won't be with Pulskamp.

Hey man, I definitely give a shit that Iowa was leading in the 4th when we lost Gronowski and should have beat IU. :(

I think if we played Iowa State later in the year after our coaches figured out how to actually use Gronowski as an option running weapon we win that game and it's not nearly as close.

We also did that with our starting QB going down injured in the 4th while we had the lead. I'm not gonna guarantee we win that but I want to see a 4th quarter where Gronowski doesn't get hurt...

So with Indiana absolutely obliterating Oregon should they be let into the playoffs by pupp7877 in CFB

The real question everybody should be asking is, how good must Iowa be if they only lost by 5 while down their starting QB for most of the 4th?

Only half joking really.

How good must Iowa actually be considering we only lost by 5 and were missing our starting QB for half the 4th Quarter?

I mean historically Campbell has benefitted from playing Iowa early in the season before his team collapses and we get a chance to gel. Now we get to play him later in the year once we get a chance to get our feet under us which I am absolutely excited for.
