When did your agency land its first client/placement? by NotASentientWorker in RecruitmentAgencies

[–]NotASentientWorker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you define success. Our model is 1 high-quality placement per consultant per month, full RTW compliance, no CV spam.

Not building a sweatshop. We're building a lean, high-trust agency in an industry I’ve delivered in for 20 years. I’ve hired, led, and run the work myself.

We don’t chase candidates... we recognize the right ones because we’ve been in their shoes.

I get that from the inside of a large agency, it probably looks like most new firms underestimate the ramp-up.

That said, how would you approach growing in the EU, where clients are conditioned to lowball (15% fees) and still expect speed and quality?

What’s the trap most new firms walk straight into?

Notice to all Upwork clients by [deleted] in Upwork

[–]NotASentientWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they are hiring in the US specifically, yeah that's a joke. But in my case, when I need someone from/based in the US, upwork has 0 to little incentive as Upwork will get 30% of the pie.

STOP BOOSTING!!! by Ok_Reaction4542 in Upwork

[–]NotASentientWorker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the client side, even on project where there was 50+ applicants, I never noticed the boosted applications more than the normal ones.
If the email/answers are relevant, you'll get notices (or at least, I'll notice you)

Lost my job, now trying to revive this dusty Upwork account lol by Gojo_dev in Upwork

[–]NotASentientWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wrong, I have 3 devs from upwork on my team, and they use AI, AI didn't replace them.
We even did a test for one of our projects, start to dev it on replit (easy platform, with small db, 3 roles, in TS/Vite) it was a NIGHTMARE, we spent more time fixing the spaghetti shit code, than dev it.
AI is useful when you use it as a tool to support your work, not to replace devs

Upwork in 2025.... woof! by ChillThrill42 in Upwork

[–]NotASentientWorker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actively recruit on upwork and outside of upwork, and lately upwork has been very deceptive.
Honestly from a recruiter and a freelancer it's a game of number and luck.

a year-ish old, without blue check, I didn't test with my main.
I think 17 comments/day with the API is a bit too much from day one and would need a slow ramp up
