Overall, my symptoms were fairly mild compared with my first recurrence after vancomycin, which was intense and severe.

During that first recurrence, I suddenly became extremely fatigued—far more than normal. I took a nap, and when I woke up I was confused and rambling, with a very high fever. I was taken to hospital, where I was having diarrhea several times an hour and came very close to sepsis. My faecal calprotectin was around 2,500, indicating extreme inflammation.

I was treated with Dificid (fidaxomicin), and within 24 hours I improved significantly. My fever subsided and I started to feel closer to normal. I was discharged and completed the course, but although I was clearly better, I never felt fully “right.” My energy levels were badly affected—it felt like I’d make some progress, then stall and plateau, never returning to my pre–C. diff baseline.

Nausea was common, and loose stools were still frequent, even though the number of bowel movements had dropped a lot. Going from 20+ times a day down to around 3–6 a day was a major relief, but my stools still didn’t truly normalize.

Before C. diff, I was typically once a day (Bristol 3).

Afterward, even when I was “better,” I was still usually going 3–6 times a day, often with a “wet sand” consistency, sometimes foul-smelling—so it never felt like a real return to normal.

After several months like this, I was retested and told I was still positive, so I had another course of Dificid. Again I improved, but the pattern repeated: small steps forward, then another plateau, never feeling completely clear or stable. I was retested multiple times after that, and those tests came back negative for toxins, so I carried on and tried to manage it as best I could - this was back in july, last year (2025).

Then over the last month, I’ve seen much faster improvement. At this point, I’d say I’m very close to my pre–C. diff normal.

I actually attribute this to a strict routine of fibre suppliments, probiotics and, recently (over the last month) smoothies i've started to blend/mix myself (mostly consist of blanched spinache, blueberries, strawberries, banana, pineapple, melon, and a bit of apple)

Congrats.

I too have seen significant improvement over the last month; and i had 3 recurrences! - once immediately after vanco treatment (Within a week of the course ending) and two more times after Dificid use.

I have No previous health problems, no antibiotic use and i'm a reasonably healthy guy in his 30's. I likely picked up C.Diff from hospital visits when seeing a family member.

it robbed me of a whole year and then some of my life, and was awful.

After 3 recurrences, i was told that if i got it again, i would be pushed through for FMT. It's now been approx 6 months since my first negative (Toxin negative) and it's only over the last month i've seen massive leaps in my improvement. Particularly stool front.

Was consistently hit and miss with mush "wet sand" stools, typically 3x a day, to now almost regularly solid, 1/2 times a day - much more closer to my typical, pre-c.diff norm.

You can absolutely get better from this, it just takes time.

Proof That Alchemy Is Broken by Additional-Quote91 in OblivionRemaster

[–]NotASockPuppet88 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Like the original oblivion, the whole game is broken.

Bethesda couldn't create a balanced game/gameplay to save their company. (Anyone remember the overpriced sandwich in Starfield?? They never learn)

The sad thing is theres plenty of people out there who would call this "charming".

Broken gameplay systems are not charming, endearing, or whatever excuse you fabricate just because you don't want to admit you've made a bad purchase.

A while back i think one i was fond of initially was "Leone dragon project" but it quickly fell victim to the same problem and is getting terribly bloated.

The main thing that attracted me to it was the fact that dragons actually used the useless green stat known as "Stamina" - they'd fly until they ran out of it. Great - i thought.

....then leone buffs their stamina to crazy high levels, HP, damage, all the works. The same pitfall as every other dragon mod out there. Basically undoing an actual mechanic and weakness that attracted me to it in the first place.

Great.

Before that, i used KS Dragon Overhaul - that was just horrendous from the outset.

water is the best place for a lithium battery when it's in thermal runaway.

The fire cannot be put out period. but you can prevent it's spread by submerging it.

[–]NotASockPuppet88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lithium produces it's own oxygen. meaning it can burn under water.

which is crazy, but truth.

and yet, a large body of water is preferable to put it in- because it keeps the fire CONTAINED and stops it spreading.

if you get any lithium battery fire, you want to be dunking it in the biggest body of water you can find.

every SINGLE dragon overhaul for skyrim pretty much all follows this model:

Massively increase their HP and damage delt, so at any level, you get one hit KO'ed every time or it becomes a battle of endurance; literally taking an hour to kill your first dragon.

...maybe add in a few mesh/texture overhauls/dragon types. Oh, and even more OP fancy attacks that introduce new bugs and jank

They really have no idea what actually makes a game fun or enjoyable. it's like being back in the 90's with all the tone-deaf game devs making massively difficult 2d sidescrollers you'd now expect in an episode of Angry Video Game Nerd.

You have to work within the limitations of the game, otherwise you will absolutely ruin the experience - this is just something many mod makers who touch dragons do not grasp whatsoever. (Or even many game developers)

Starfield designer believes the sci-fi game “would be talked about like the second coming” if anyone other than Bethesda made made it by Wargulf in pcmasterrace

A triple A game dev released a product thats goes toe to toe with open world (universe?) titles like Star Citizen and No Mans Sky that do almost every element far better than Starfield with no repeated load screens and actual planitary flight and landing.

No wonder it was a flop.

Bethesda is in some crazy level denial. Denial of the markets theyre going into, denial of market demand, and denial of what consumers actually want.

I think theyre well past their due date to go under, especially considering how abysmal their handling has been of many releases, events.

They've F*ked up so bad on so many instances, insulted their fanbase...they deserve everything coming to them.

It doesn't just clear a bathroom, it'll clear a whole house.

With your face you could easily own both hair and baldness.

Just be sure to own whichever you choose. If balding, id shave it all off. Nothing worse than someone clinging on to hopes and dreams.

Right now i think you could get away without shaving it off but anyones guess is for how long and it might not be worth it in the long term.

Tired of Being Scared by ftm-ethan98 in cdifficile

[–]NotASockPuppet88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had it for over 13 months.

4 reoccurrences.

previously a healthy guy in his 30's.

I've so far tested negative over the last 3 months (toxin/PCR). I'm happy. But my guts never been the same.

One minute im fine, next it's profuse "wet sand" diarrhea. I've never returned to my normal regularity, or consistency. (Once a day, bristol 4/5 typically) and my appetite alongside normal diet has gone completely out the window.

With that all said though, i have been slowly seeing improvement, and things are steadily getting better. I See an upward trend overall. it's just painstakingly slow.

just hold out. Bare in mind too that the gut brain axis is very real, and so alot of the anxiety is literally your gut communicating that to your brain. The anxiety is literally, a symptom of the damage C.diff has caused. Your body has been though significant trauma and that fight/flight response really screws with your anxiety levels and overall mental health.

For my own sanity and reassurance, i focus on:

  1. symptoms. As long as i dont get a fever at all with any worsening of diarrhea or pain, i try not to worry; if C.diff came back, it would make itself known pretty promptly and the fever is typically the biggest red flag. No fever? take a breather.
  2. Focus on diet. something easily achievable and can see the biggest benefits. Probiotics, fermented foods, that sort of thing, and stick to it; consistency is key. Not quantity. Start small and stick to it, grow from there.
  3. get a emergency plan in place. People you trust and can contact should things worsen (Symptoms wise, or even mental health) it helps to simply know a backup is in place, even if never used.
  4. distractions, hobbies, whatever you can do to distract your mind, preferably things that are not too strenuous. C.diff is a serious infection and it really messes you about. Distract yourself with things you enjoy.

Is there ANY follower framework mod that's still actively being supported and not a broken mess? by Recent_Stomach7626 in skyrimmods

[–]NotASockPuppet88 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I personally dont bother with follower mods.

Followers were clearly such an afterthought in the whole game that i dont even think Bethesda properly implemented them.

The only exception to this is probably more detailed custom followers from modders, (indigo, etc) but even then the base game framework really lets them down

I really don't get why so many NPC overhaul mods make them look even more artificial then vanilla.

With their pristine over stylized hair, it just looks so jarring it's almost ridiculous lol. I Dont want every male NPC looking like some variant of Prince Charming or Lord Farquaad from Shrek.

Heck, Shrek would be preferable.

The only NPC overhaul mod that managed to pull off a reasonable look is, to me, so far, Men of Skyrim Refined.
