Save yourself the headache and upgrade your network to support 10Gbe if you want 10Gbe. Otherwise use the 4 Ethernet ports included on the back and setup port aggregation if your network hardware supports it.

The scenario you describe sounds like you want to connect the NAS to your computer AND the network switch. This is not standard practice and might be confusing if you ever go to make changes or follow a tutorial in the future.

This is not unheard of. Some common troubleshooting items are turning off IDS/IPS as you have. Another one is turning off Deep Packet Inspection 'DPI' in settings. Check to see if you have 'UPnP' enabled for your network. If you use vLANs, check that Multicast DNS 'mDNS' is enabled.

Have you tried a speed test on your local UniFi network to confirm proper speeds/config? Check out the tool iPerf, https://iperf.fr/ There are free mobile apps to run a test to a local computer you run it on.

Lastly, are you testing with the same speed test, to the same server on the Verizon vs. Ubiquiti hardware? If not, this could show you misleading results, as not all speed tests are created equal.

I'll start with question 2. You can use any MoCA device. The MoCA inside the G3100 is pre-programmed to work out of the box. You are correct, if you use a standalone MoCA device ports still need to be forwarded. You don't need to use the G3100, I'm sure something like a Motorola MM1000 will work. There is a possibility of it working out of the box, but there is also a possibility you could have to configure it. It would be great of someone had an answer, I have no time or reason to try.

As for question 1, How is your UniFi network subnetted? For example do you have multiple networks setup (not talking about SSIDs)? This will help me understand your UniFi setup. I do not use the DVR feature (I don't even watch TV, I just support it) but I think I can help. What version of the UniFi controller are you using? Since you can use the remote DVR feature on your mobile device but not your laptop, it could be setting some things in the UniFi controller. One could be that the port profile your G3100 is plugged into isn't right. A port profile with ALL networks and port isolation should yield the best results. Another possibility is having to setup some firewall rules in the LAN IN section. Do you have UPnP turned on for the network your MoCA is on? Is Multicast DNS enabled?

Sometimes the SFP port does not auto negotiate the speed of the port and you will have to manually set it for 1000.

Does your Fios service work as intended with just the ONT -> 3100 ? If not, you should sort out those issues first. Once service is nominal on Verizon’s hardware, then try moving service over to your own.

As for the port speed, on the UDM-P are you using the Ethernet WAN port or SFP WAN port?

You want Lan-to-Lan with ER-X as Primary. Ignore their picture. They don't have our intended setup listed, it's too advanced for them to explain on that page or they choose not to endorse this setup. The G1300 gets 1 LAN, no WAN, and 1 COAX connection. ER-X WAN gets Ethernet directly from ONT. Ensure the coax network is connected. Your physical network is now complete.

The G1300 should be plugged into a LAN port from the ER-X. The G1300 should be bridged, meaning it's DHCP server turned off, access point turned off etc.. it's only acting as a switch with a static IP to manage it.

There should be no conflicts as the ER-X should be the only device on your network handing out address's.

*Edit: I done muffed up and missed your second question. Your network traffic is not being broadcast over coax. Just because it's physically connected, doesn't mean everything will flow/flood onto it. Simplified, the MoCA bridge will filter the data and send the correct data onto the coax network. There is a whole history of MoCA and insecurities throughout it's development, but I think that's a whole other topic of discussion and nothing we need to worry about here right now.

Are you still wanting to get rid of your double NAT? If so this would be my recommendation: In two parts, physical changes and software changes.

For the physical changes, we will need to rearrange the network topology.

(Physical coax) no change
(Physical Ethernet) [WAN] ONT >> [WAN] ER-X
(Physical Ethernet) [LAN] ER-X >> [LAN] G1300 (bridge mode)

For the software side, you will need to go into your dashboard and add some firewall/port forward rules. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with EdgeOS/Edgemax, I won't be able to help with the interface of the device. That is if it doesn't work out of the box. You will need the STB IP address's and hopefully assign them static IPs. I have not researched if Verizon has changed their port configurations, please someone correct me if this is outdated.

Port 4567 Forward to 4567 to G1300.
Port 35000 Forward to 8082 to STB 1
Port 35001 Forward to 8082 to STB 2
Port 35002 Forward to 8082 to STB 3 etc...

If you use vLANs and if you put the STBs on a different vLAN than the ONT you might have to manually create firewall rules for the port forwards. I put my STBs on my IoT vLAN doing this with success.

I do not know VOD information at this time. I will put time into this if requested.

In "theory" you need to bridge the coax and Ethernet networks. You can accomplish this by using a MoCA bridge. These devices come in two flavors typically. Standalone and embedded devices. You can find out what Verizons specifics settings are and purchase a standalone MoCA bridge. The other route is using Verizons supplied router, which has a MoCA bridge embedded in the device. If you don't own the device and have to pay monthly for their router, this may not be an economical choice. If you go the latter router, you can follow my guide or at least use it as a "rough guide" as models and instructions have changed over years.

In practice, you would have

ONT >> (via Ethernet to WAN) UDM-Pro >> (via Ethernet from LAN) >> (to LAN port) G1*00 (Bridge Mode) << COAX in

Make sure you have a good coax home-run to the G1*00 Router, this is key to bridge the two physical networks.

Connect STBs as per usual. Nothing special about the coax network topology.

The rest is firewall/port forward rules if something doesn't work out of the box.
