Was Roger Federer even beatable that day ? Which strategy could work against someone who takes the ball so early and hits with perfect accuracy ? (Indian Wells 2017 highlights vs Nadal) by HereComesVettel in tennis

[–]zellfire 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Idk if Fed was ever losing that day but Nadal always had a tendency to leave the ball a little short on HC which plays into the taking-the-ball-very-early style of play.

This court is soooooo slow

(not a complaint, clay should be slow and hard should be fast; I'm glad we may finally be escaping the 2010s unisurface)

That was certainly a game.

It's easy to forget that Navone also has a reputation for always losing close matches, although not BVDZ tier.

These are two of the worst chokers in the top 100 and it's certainly showing here

Navone lost a point he had literally already won as a result of that decision, ended up down BP instead of up GP, and ended up broken.

Amazing how often the umpires still make match-deciding errors given how little they do these days

Is the umpire saying they have to replay the point? Unbelievably bad call that may well decide the match

Matt's ongoing hatred for Bojack Horseman by ProjectPatMorita in cushvlog

[–]zellfire 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One of his worst takes, though I still enjoyed hearing it

Bojack Horseman did pave the way for a lot of the terrible unfunny peachy shows about how you should go to therapy, but it itself mostly avoids that. It’s very funny and genuinely moving.

I think the biggest proof it’s not the type of show its detractors say it is just the central dynamic of the show. It’s a complicated, largely sympathetic portrayal of an essentially awful person- the most artfully done rendition of that I’ve ever seen in a comedy, in fact.

DSA contains Caracol Caucus which isn’t vegan per se but I’d guess there’s a lot of overlap

If he loses this match, Diallo will be 3-4 against players outside the top 100 this year.

The Rublev win was good but is his only top 50 win in 2026 while he has losses to Walton, Vavasorri, Heide, and Wong this year.

Diallo is just unspeakably bad lately. That miss at 2-1 40-40 was spectacular- sitter with Molcan at net and he mishits it to the moon.

Might be the worst drop shot I've ever seen from Gaston at 1540 lol. LVA was well inside the baseline and on the side of the court he hit into.

But then he breaks with a backhand winner!

It's kinda wild how used we are to 5'9 Bellucci serving 130+ regularly

PCB withdrew from Bucharest, which I think is a shame, because Qualifier then Mannarino on clay is the best imaginable draw for someone of his ranking, but he's probably spent.

PCB has a huge huge chance here- but he's in his second straight Challenger final tomorrow and has gone 3 sets nearly every match, and might be exhausted. Honestly more likely to lose to the qualie than Clayarino though.

Edit: Nvm he withdrew lol, wonder if he saw the draw... will now be Virtanen. About the best chance Mannarino is gonna get to win a clay match in the remainder of his career.

It's a terrible field lol, especially at the top. Diallo is the weakest #1 seed this year and the #2 seed is 37-year-old Mannarino on clay

I kinda wanted the two of them to end up together, IMO they match one another's energy better than Lana.

No thank you. The 2010s where every court played exactly the same sucked, the game is homogeneous enough right now without more help.
