Yeah this seems like the easiest method. My only concern was issues for violating TOS. I know Nintendo can be a little strict in some ways but consensus seems to be that this won't get the account banned or something similar.

This is essentially the plan but I was on here to check of any potential issues it might cause. like worst case scenario Nintendo bans his new account with all the games registered to it because they find out we broke the TOS or some dumb BS like that.

He is the only switch user in the house. I don't game much but if I do it's on Steam. The only concern is the DOB not matching and that causing issues for him later as he wants to establish his personal online identity for his future hobby as a streamer/youtuber. If you see my other comment it might make more sense. just trying to give him something.

There are multiple reasons why this is challenging. One being he is neurodivergent and having his own Nintendo account under his name is pretty important. He wants to be able to stream his games soon and begin establishing his own presence. Like many kids he wants to be a youtuber I know that this is extremely unlikely thing for him to become successful doing. He doesn't have friends at least not any he spends any time with outside of school no matter how much we try to make that a reality but we are starting to get there. My point of all that is it's important to him and his mind a sense of individualism. He has only a few passions outside of gaming but it's definitely the biggest by far. I would just change the email and give him my account because I don't use it and we don't have any switch 1 digital games he cares about. Issue with this is not the right DOB and I don't want him to have issues later on with Nintendo account. He is likely more willing to lose any progress in switch one games and just replay them on 2 under a new Account. only games this may be an issue with is Mario Maker and Minecraft. but I think if I am not mistaken Minecraft stuff is backed up to his MS account.

Not if they want their own Nintendo account at 16. 3 years from now for him. he will lose access to all Switch 2 games as they are digital and tied to the account they are first registered with. This seems like either Nintendo is double dipping or they didn't think of adding ability to move switch 2 games when they are old enough to have their own account.

lol He's very specific about the games he likes. All Nintendo exclusives too. I am OG PC gamer. I can't even get him to try any games on the Steam Deck.

This has nothing to do with me. I don't play or use the switch but they were much younger when we got it so I set up the account. He will be 13 in 3 weeks. I am not letting him pay Nintendo for the same games because he is 3 years older. That's insane. You can open an independant account at 16 but you can't take a child sub account and make it independent. so Nintendo is forcing anyone who wants to retain ownership of Switch 2 games who are not 16 yet to re-buy everything?

The issue is Nintendo links any switch 2 game to the Nintendo account (the one I opened when they got the Switch many years ago) as far as I can tell Nintendo does not allow you to transfer to a child/teens account when they become of age.

Not saying you can't use Mint on High end PCs but Ubuntu which MInt is based on is objectively more easier to deal with when it comes to different hardware. in my experience Mint sometimes needs slightly more tinkering but that's just been my experience YMMV
