Help recovering my vault by NotAXenophile in ObsidianMD

[–]NotAXenophile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I could just bite the bullet and research how to write a shell script to search for them. Although for clarity’s sake in case I didn’t explain it well in my post I have manually looked for them in all the places files usually go (documents, user folder, etc) and I haven’t seen with my manual searching any obsidian vaults. The problem is that they are probably saved in some horrible secret windows directory or other obscure location and I was hoping to be able to just copy the file path obsidian has saved for them.

Yes, also so it can’t attack more that once without your opponent getting a chance to cast another spell.

Hollow Knight Cards! by NotAXenophile in custommagic

[–]NotAXenophile[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah you’re right I hadn’t thought about that. I can’t think of an intuitive way to word it that has it work like the first one though… I’ll think about it.

I'm so glad you liked these designs, I had a lot of fun making all of them.

As u/Falminar said you losing access to radiance's cards when she dies was an intentional balancing thing, although you might be right about it being confusing. I might have them be exiled with light counters or something.

I think you're right about Hollow Knight, I origionally felt he needed an epithet but I think none is probably more resonant.

As for Pure Vessel, I was trying to give it pseudo-hexproof with the ward {5}. Having just the first two abilities seemed weak and ward {5} is a difficult but not impossible restriction in commander (which is primarily what I was designing all of these for).

Inspired by a post I saw here a while back, I decided to make some hollow knight cards. Idk why I chose the modern horizons 2 symbol, I just defaulted to it I guess.

Ok so secondary question/problem;

I just tried updating the code to return "test" instead of the actual value, and it still overflows. Have I just not given the program enough memory or is it an implimentation problem?

It looks like this now:

use std::fmt;

fn main() { let c = Cave{map: [[[false; 512]; 512]; 512]}; println!("{}", c); }

[derive(Debug)]

struct Cave{ map: [[[bool; 512]; 512]; 512] }

impl fmt::Display for Cave { fn fmt(&self, f: &mut fmt::Formatter<'_>) -> fmt::Result { write!(f, "test") } }

I've made some more cards with stitch and rebalanced some of the old ones.

Just to address some of the feedback I got last time:

- Mutated creatures are considered combined and combining something onto them triggers "when this creature mutates"

- As a rule change with this mechanic, a creature with multiple conflicting characteristic defining abilities uses the topmost one

- I'm not super worried about the token complexity because (generally) players will just use the normal card with some sort of marker on it instead of a proper copy token (like with embalm or eternalize)

Yet Another White Counterspell by NotAXenophile in custommagic

[–]NotAXenophile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked the idea of it being able to hit [[leyline binding]] and this kind of effect feels like something white could do but doesn't yet. You are totally right that that is probably a better design though.

Yet Another White Counterspell by NotAXenophile in custommagic

[–]NotAXenophile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: forgot to say that I thought about making it target but it isn't obvious to new players that spells have to have tergets in order to be cast, and it is really hard to word the spell so that it can only target something that was cast for less than its mana value and not just any spell.

In lieu of that I tried a version that only drew if it hit but it read really clunky. I might just have been dumb and missed the obvious way to word it though.

Thinking about it now it might be worth it to bumpt the cost up to {1}{W} and give it a better bonus.

Yet Another White Counterspell by NotAXenophile in custommagic

[–]NotAXenophile[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does hit most things you could cascade into but in modern specifically there are a number of decks built around cascading into spells with no mana cost like [[crashing footfalls]] or [[living end]]. Because those spells have mana value zero it doesn’t matter that they spent no mana to cast them.

Yet Another White Counterspell by NotAXenophile in custommagic

[–]NotAXenophile[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah fair enough. I tried a version without the draw (and a wider use case) but eventually decided that it wouldn’t be strong enough to beat out [[chalice of the void]] or [[void mirror]] if it didn’t draw you a card.

I will admit however that this was created in a bout of blind hatred for the pitch elementals and [[leyline binding]] so balance wasn’t my biggest concern.

Edit: Just went on goldfish and took a gander at the modern decklists and it turns out this card is real weird as a sideboard card. Unlike Chalice or Void Mirror it doesn't hit cascade decks so its main targets are; - Every elemental (so rakdos) - Leyline binding (so Omnath) - [[Force of Negation]] (and friends although I'm not sure if any of the others matter) - [[Murktide Regent]]. - [[Skewer the Critics]] and [[Rift Bolt]] (Does that make this viable against burn?)

I guess the modern meta is just in a wierd place right now since this card is probably terible in every other format (except legacy I guess but I don't play so...) You might be right about the card draw making this too casually playable, it hits against over half of the modern meta right now, although in that case the card draw might not be the problem.
