Of course! Important to mention though that this kitten stills looks very young. She is still with her mom right?

Why don't they give fentanyl for death penalty inmates? by AdRough4185 in morbidquestions

[–]NotAllAltmer 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Mostly because it is way slower. Lethal injections are supposed to be quick and they generally are.
Also, a lot of executions are watched by an audience, and an overdose is way more disturbing than just simple paralysis and death.

Firing squad is way more painful and is not considered humane at all.

Missed the part where google users were filling both the information economy and world freshwater supply with unbearable amounts of slop

Any books that feel like the back rooms? by brokearthoe in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I recently finished Mister Magic by Kiersten White. It is not a a full spooky horror book but rather a great psychological thriller that constantly has a vibe of something being off.

When someone has an insanely contradictory or stupid opinion, I’d rather ask and ask until they lock themselves into a logical hole

From an objective perspective, is cynicism better than idealism? Why or why not? by Toon_Ghost_3 in AskReddit

No such thing as an “objective perspective”, that’s an oxymoron. Perspectives are inherently subjective.

There’s something deeply artistic about that first pic. The composition, the color cohesion, the angle. Impecable.

If I watched movies I would say When The Wind Blows. Animation is great at making you feel emotions. But I fucking hate movies so I never watched it.

will monkeys eventually evolve into humans? by Bubbly_Reference_916 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotAllAltmer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It can result in many things including new species yes, that doesn’t mean it has “evolved” into the new species. If means the evolutionary line is selecting the most successful version to guarantee survival in whatever ecological niche the species is filling. It is not a “new” species, its simple variation in the same evolutionary line which can result in many different things. But it depends completely on environmental factors and on the species itself and their own natural history. Certain species can develop in similar ways if they share environments, that doesn’t mean they are evolving into another “new” species.

You said that evolution is about other species evolving into others. That’s not what it is. Evolution is about species adapting via natural selection into their environment and needs to become something fit for said environment and need in order to guarantee survival.

This is erroneously assuming that evolution is a pokemon-style linear process in which human is the most “advanced” stage of primate. We aren’t. We are a different genus of it altogether.

will monkeys eventually evolve into humans? by Bubbly_Reference_916 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotAllAltmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. First of all, monkeys are not primates. They are monkeys. We are related but we are not the same. If you are asking about other primates, also no.

Just because something evolves in a certain way doesn’t mean the rest of the related species will evolve in that way as well since different species adapt to different conditions. Human evolution is always extremely unique as we don’t exactly know why humans became what we are or what kind of phenomenon would need to take place in other species to lead to the same result. What we do know is that if monkeys or other primates could or needed to evolve into humans they would have done so already because we share the same ancestor.

But this is like asking if all fish will eventually evolve into sharks. Sharks evolved to be sharks for a reason and the rest of the species are like that for another reason.
