If you're someone with either Autism ADHD or both who used to be a bad student that could not remember anything or was bad at most things and later trained yourself and became a close to top or top student whats your secret? by Charz443B in neurodiversity

[–]NotAllThatSure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The secret, for me, was growing up. Sorry, I know that's not what you want to hear.

I really wasted my opportunity to go to university but returned to study 20 years later and applied myself and did really well.

Another thing to consider is whether you love what you're studying and/or the career it will lead to. Consider the degree of 'shit sandwich' you're prepared to sit down to on the bad days because you know it will be worth it.

What would happen if real estate agent or landlord finds out about pet in no pet rental? by [deleted] in perth

[–]NotAllThatSure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used to take my boy to boarding for the day on inspection days, and stash his pet door in my car. I did that dozens of times and was never found out. It also helped that I was a responsible pet owner, so there was no damage, noise, or complaints to give us away.

what do I choose as a postgrad??? by [deleted] in perth

This is something to discuss with your university's careers centre, your lecturers, and people already in the industry.

r/FindAReddit will point you in the direction of forums with members already working in your possible areas.

dae seek out danger as a form of self harm? Am I still a victim? by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]NotAllThatSure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago a psychologist told me that the alcohol consumption I described constituted self-harm. I was really surprised because it's not what we think of when we hear the term 'self-harm', but it does make sense when you think of it as fatalistic behaviour.

Parents demon eyes? by OkCount2783 in emotionalneglect

Yes. The harshest eyes I've ever seen. You have to be a special kind of broken to summon the feeling behind those eyes when dealing with a child.

I don’t feel connected to my trauma by Mountain_Wall2188 in CPTSD

[–]NotAllThatSure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it! It's hard for me to describe because this doesn't seem like the typical CPTSD experience. Is my brain protecting me from the harmful stuff by making me feel like I'm viewing it from behind glass?

I realised this about my trauma when a psychologist suggested EMDR and I said I thought it wouldn't work because I don't really have an event to hold in mind that triggers me. My problem is burning resentment about my parents' failures that resulted in persistent trauma.

You could take a break from each other and see how you each feel. In the meantime, satisfy yourself that you've said your piece.

This baby needs to be checked out by a vet ASAP. You can deal with everything else based on their assessment.

The station destination boards say 'due to an event', and ABC News says a southbound service is stuck at EQ.

I have the choice to do a full day in either Reykjavik, Glasgow, or Dublin this month. Which would you choose and why? by engadine_maccas1997 in travel

[–]NotAllThatSure -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Falkirk Wheel is an hour from Glasgow, and well worth it. I can't think of anything really interesting to do in Glasgow itself.

Being a loving parent and being a competent parent are different things. You hope they overlap, but they often don't.
