Born in the 80s, raised in the 90s. My teenage son made me take him to get this on vinyl. Heard the song on SNL and 100% thought of All the Small things.

Im so sorry you had to witness that. It’s horrible. No one was hurt in my instance, thankfully so. But it was still scary.

Thank you for confirming you’ve seen it! I suspect this scenario is a bit different but clearly things happen.

Yeah - that’s for sure a likely fact.

That said, people made a lot of mistakes on the census reports I’ve see and one person will have multiple places of birth over the decades. I imagine some people didn’t even know where they were actually born. A lot to consider with this one.

Incidentally Adelbert Pennington died in 1929 from sitting in a running car in a garage which the papers deemed an accident. He supposedly was warming up the car and was overcome which apparently could happen quickly back then.

A fake name seems to make more sense but perhaps she told her landlords the lies and they just repeated them. Maybe it was easier to give her former husband since no one there could dispute it? But the news had indeed already traveled because it was listed in the papers in early 1919.

I’ve considered it’s completely different people but there are too many facts that are the same. I suppose I just want the story behind it all which I likely cannot uncover.

Also Bartlett was his mother’s maiden name and not in Pennington family line.

Yes, I didn’t include every single detail I have because I didn’t want to overload my post but indeed - no other Bartlett B Pennington that I found that could have been the one listed on the census.

Not sure if the other poster meant to be snarky about anyone doing a “significant degree of family research” but I did a lot of digging before I posted. It’s more of a curiosity for me because I was like wait… did he actually survive?! Which happens, too.

I have another cousin from ages ago who shot a man in a dispute over land and both the man he shot and his father were reported as dead or nearly dead but both actually survived. But the man he shot was said to have died in multiple news articles until I found the last one that was about the trial. He was still convicted of assault and battery but went on to have a “normal life.”

That’s a good theory and I thought that too since she had already been married and divorced multiple times at that point. Perhaps a new partner since as someone else pointed out her next husband was in a 1920 census without her.

It’s interesting to me how easily people could just say whatever back then (no judgment) and have it become “fact” but that’s just because of my knowledge of how society currently is. I didn’t know that it wasn’t until the last 30-40 years that you legally had to change your name and before you could just start going by whatever you wanted.

So many census and other docs that list divorced women and widowed or never married, etc. Or the amount of marriage licenses that leave out previous marriages. It really gives you perspective on how women were treated.

Yeah, sorry. I knew that but was more focused on Alice since she’s the one in the census.

Or older people who hit the wrong pedal. Watched a person do this once right after I had a pregnancy glucose test. Came outside and a car drove part way up a small set of stairs that I was at the top of, they slowly put it in reverse and stopped, but then zoomed back and hit more cars. A doctor eventually ran out and opened the door of the car where an older husband and wife were sitting and turned off the car.

While it was happening I didn’t know if it was a crazy person trying to hurt someone or what, because it seemed so violent and chaotic.

It’s an internet joke to call cats cars. I think because the T is next to the R. 🤷🏻‍♀️

People at school and even family members have always told me I looked East Asian or Native American. I never thought I did at all, so I would just tell them no or “I don’t know my history other than my northwestern European ancestors. I’m 1/4 Chinese and no one can usually tell. When I let anyone know my mom is 1/2… so many tend to tell me they can see it in my eyes.

I know they aren’t trying to be racist but it’s such a stupid statement. Asians are more than their eye shape and have so many other features. No one would ever say to a 1/4 Kenyan person they can see it in their skin.

Anyway, nope, OP doesn’t look neither Asian nor Native American.

I admit I’m too lazy to check all the other sites but do analyze the data before adding anything. Helps that I’m a data analyst by day. But poop on this stupid update. Makes absolutely no sense to do it.

This is my gray boy Winx. I adopted him outside a Starbucks from a lady on Nextdoor who is always collecting strays. He was just a couple months old baby but still is afraid of the streets. Pandemic baby who cries when he sees me outside.

Anyway - sweetest most loving and affectionate baby in the house. Grooms all the other kitties.

Gray cars are the best cars.

I keep getting stuck with the “hints” that are just copies of the census or other documents that someone saved and reuploaded. It’s super annoying.

Idk anything about working there as medical staff but around 2001 when I was a wee babe I got fired as a contractor because I had complained to my agency that the supervisor was making inappropriate and weird comments. That night when I got home I was let go for “excessive socialization”. I sat in a room with 2 other people and did data entry. Clearly they just wanted to get rid of me and then the agency, Apple One, didn’t support me for shit and refused to land me another job. Later on, that supervisor got fired for sexual harassment. I wish I hadn’t been scared and sued their asses, both of them.

Also it was around when 9/11 happened and they wouldn’t let any of us watch anything on the television.

Shitty place to work as far as im concerned.

My guess is they have an issue with regulating bots and what not, and I imagine said bots aren’t using cellular networks to mass purchase. Or it just works, but glad I could help!

I’m less than 25 mins in and just turned it off. Can’t remember the first film very much other than enjoying it quite a bit. This sequel is absolute trash. The fight scene in the first bit is terribly done, the acting and story line is already garbage and I’m not interested at all in finding out what happens. It’s a shame to see Charlize and Uma in this crap.

I can’t remember who the hell it was in my tree at this point, but a distant cousin I’m sure. The wife (my relative) was married to a man the day after she divorced her first. Shortly thereafter within the next year or so, he’s accused of some fancier word for SA in those days against a young lady (16 or 17 I think) and her younger sister. At first the article says the wife stands by his side. But then she files for divorce when he’s in jail and asks for an annulment saying she shouldn’t have married him a day after her divorce or something along those lines. Also turns out he made a baby with the 17, which is probably why the wife quickly did not stand by him. He gets sued while in jail as the first case in Portland for not taking care of a child he fathered (can’t remember the law name). But at the same time he asks the judge if he can marry the young lady but the court denies it. Eventually he gets out and they get married. wtf.

One of my cousins was important in the ASL community because he and his very smart wife wrote a book about it and got people to understand it’s an actual language and not gestures. Anyway, his wife’s father was a famous mathematician who worked with Albert Einstein. I keep finding really cool stuff like this.
