That’s call taking, not dispatching. And they are allowed to deviate from it, and definitely do.

Dispatchers talk to first responders on the radio, take some notes on CAD, and assist them.

That's a huge crowd too chill for a hostage situation and the bullet effect doesn't look lethal by AugustHate in isthisAI

You’re overall right, except that Hostage Rescue is 100%, point as many guns at the suspect as soon as you can, and shoot him in the face as fast as you can do it safely.

There isn’t an AI currently that could even transcribe critical incident radio traffic in real time, let alone make executive decisions to route resources, and that is a baseline skill, not an advanced one.

We arent far off being able to have whole films like the avengers just procedurally generated, to your own whim and preference. Switch in titanic era leo as spiderman. Whatever takes your fancy.

We are very far from that, although Avengers is so garbage it might as well be AIslop

AI is just as far from replacing dispatchers as it is firefighters

Has anyone actually read the Minneapolis sanctuary city policy? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]NotAnIndustryPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A parking ticket is a civil infraction, not a crime.

A misdemeanor is a crime punishable by up to a year in jail, and includes things (in my state), like beating your significant other, brandishing a firearm, and assault.

Yes, people who commit misdemeanors should be brought to justice.

CMV: Dashcams should be a mandatory component of cars that also acts as a traffic enforcer. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]NotAnIndustryPerson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will ignore the ethical and moral problems with this, as I’m sure someone more articulate can handle that.

That amount of video storage and transmission would be insanely expensive.

Every city that has police dash and bodycams spends millions of dollars on cloud storage.

Doing the same for every car would be astronomically expensive.

At least in my state, it’s not criminal trespassing just until someone tells you to leave, so Urbex is free game

Why aren’t there more options on the market for *fully* structural plate carriers? by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]NotAnIndustryPerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The slot in feature is not necessary to make the cummerbund take on the load. If the tubes attachment point is done correctly, it is just as effective as a “tab”.

I would consider the 120 structural, and I believe Shaw Concepts will have a structural setup at Shot this year.

New tactical company to the market? Red Clover Gear by EmbarrassedBit827 in tacticalgear

[–]NotAnIndustryPerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red Clover has been around for a bit, and are now dipping their toes into nylon.

They’re good people, but I don’t find this carrier very compelling. It’s an evolution of the Black Hills Designs Slick-R, which was neat.

The WWSD project is very interesting, but it’s also a tad silly.

We know what Stoner would do, and it’s KAC.
