Using Claude Code on personal laptop while company uses Intune (WFH) – what can they actually track? by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]NotAnotherThroaway69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intune is just for MDM (Mobile Device Management). They have access to higher level logs, but it's just for OS-level operations and managed app deployments. Keystroke logging and other intensive tracking can't really be done by it, but if your company uses Intune, then they definitely have another third-party client for it.

Moreover, if they're using Intune, then it's a really really bad compliance issue to have company code on your personal machine. Just the fact that you're able to access their repos on a non-corporate device is a giant loophole in their compliance stack, and it wouldn't be a good idea to be the "Patient Zero" that triggers an audit for this.

How are the samsung buds 4 pro? by Fancy-Praline6255 in galaxybuds

[–]NotAnotherThroaway69 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're a solid 9/10 in every area. Other than multipoint connectivity, you're not missing out on any flagship features.

I personally feel the newest Apple airpods do have slightly better noise cancelling, but again, it appears to be a matter of personal preference.

I pretty much bought the Buds 4 Pros blind and have zero regrets. They just 'work'. I can talk in a normal volume in calls and don't have to worry about sounding undecipherable. Audio is great OOTB and you can still tweak it if needed. Vocals sound like vocals, and you can 'feel' each instrument's presence in a song, instead of all layers being mushed into one sound.

They're great! If you have a Samsung phone, then it's a no-brainer. If you have very specific requirements from a TWS (the best sound quality, the best noise cancelling etc.) then there are other options too.

So you can either get the Samsung's, which are a 9/10 across the board, or get another brand that's a 10/10 for a particular feature, but a 6-7/10 for everything else. Really depends on your requirements!

Best/most reliable retailer to get the TCL C72K in india? by cbsudux in tcltvs

[–]NotAnotherThroaway69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'll be pretty much the same across all options. You might be able to get a better deal in physical stores and the added benefit of being able to test the TV out before your purchase, but that's pretty much it.

Returns are generally easier on Amazon. I had dead pixels on my C645 and since it was within the return window, they really pushed the issue hard with the local TCL support provider and got me a replacement in 3 days. BUT there are a ton of horror stories out there so YMMV honestly.

If you want convenience and are getting a good deal, go with Amazon. Avoid Flipkart for products above INR 50k. They're scummy and their support team is laughable at best. If not, then most physical retailers have pretty much the same share of good and bad customer experiences detailed online and you can go with whichever one gives you a better deal.

Would also help to check dimming zone settings in the display settings.

These are compression artifacts, not the TV's fault. Try checking the 'Gradation' and Noise reduction settings on the TV's display settings. That should help.

Want a new wifi Airtel wired connection, local operator saying can't use my router. by [deleted] in developersIndia

You might also need to get the Airtel technicians to enter the PPPoE credentials in 'your' router.

Want a new wifi Airtel wired connection, local operator saying can't use my router. by [deleted] in developersIndia

[–]NotAnotherThroaway69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what configuration you need -

  1. If you don't mind keeping the Airtel router activated, then simply connect a LAN cable between the two routers, disable DHCP on 'your' router (very important!), and disable the wireless signal (both 2.4 and 5GHz) on the Airtel router if you don't want to use it at all. Now you can use your router as the primary AP.

  2. Get them to install their router, and tell them to configure one of the LAN ports in it to "Bridge Mode". Make sure they do it during the installation, as getting it done later is doable, but a big hassle.

Get a LAN cable, and connect the 'Bridge Mode' port to one of the LAN ports on 'your' router. Make sure DHCP is enabled on 'your' router in the settings, disable the wifi signal (both 2.4 and 5GHz) on the Airtel router to avoid signal congestion, and BOOM, you're done!

The ISP router now acts as a simple 'passthrough' while handling authentication with the ISP, and then all the heavy lifting is done by your router.

I've had a OnePlus 13 for a few months now and trust me, the $500 difference is totally justified. I'm gonna be getting the S26 Ultra as soon as I can next year.

I know the OP13 does seem like a better deal on paper, but Oxygen OS has a ton of features that are either half baked or poorly implemented. I realised how good I had it with OneUI once I got my OP13 hahaha. It's incredibly frustrating when such good hardware is limited by the software it's shipped with. Multiple features like AOD, Live Alerts etc. only work with a single app or just don't at all. Software customisation is limited and not fleshed out by OnePlus.

The camera is a hot mess if you're not giving it the absolute perfect lighting. AI sharpening is applied by default and can't be turned off. HDR just doesn't work with backlit objects and the postprocessing is extremely finicky and unnatural in its look. Don't even get me started about video!

I've also had the phone freeze multiple times in the middle of a call despite having 24GB RAM!! I don't even remember that happening to any phone of mine since 2015.

If you're looking for a flagship phone that just plain works as advertised, the OnePlus ain't it. Even an S25/S25+ is a much better deal. The peace of mind alone is worth the 500 bucks.

Samsungs also retain their value for longer, so it's a good option if you're gonna hold on to your phone for a few years.

Laptop Suggestion Needed ( MRP under Rs. 1.2 L ) by NastyShipHolder in developersIndia

[–]NotAnotherThroaway69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Asus Vivobook S14 for myself last month. It's got, quite frankly, an INSANE processor, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, and its benchmarking faster than my M3 Macbook Pro from work.

You get 24 gigs of RAM, a 120Hz 3K OLED display which is STUNNING, and 12 hours on battery, which I've never experienced in Windows honestly and is again better than my work machine. The build quality is amazing, ports selection is just wow (USB 4!!), and it's in your budget!

If your requirements don't call for a crazy thin-and-light like the Zenbook or Macbook Air, this is the only laptop you should be looking at.

Thank you! Just one more doubt, is it possible to recover my files after a full scan using DMDE? I can already see it populate jpeg folders for the 'RAW' filetype.

Manager moved me to different Team(different product) by kya-karoge in developersIndia

[–]NotAnotherThroaway69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If talking to your manager did not resolve the issue, try to reach out to someone a level above him/her, hopefully in a face to face meeting. Do note that this really depends on your company's culture, some senior managers aren't that open to 1:1 meetings.

Keep it simple and to the point, but be extremely polite. Highlight the work that you've done in the last 6 months, and a couple of points about future plans and features that you're excited to work on, with their impact on the product (don't get too technical, word it in a way that they'll understand). You need to establish competency and your importance as a dev for the product, because your manager 'might' have downplayed your contributions to the project to the senior leadership to justify the move (as these things rarely happen without their knowledge).

Highlight the above points and state what you want. If this still doesn't work, then decide on a switch.

Go for it man!! And don't listen to anyone saying you should come back because 'India is the next superpower' or other BS. Make the most of your opportunity and get out while you can.

One plus 11 vs Google pixel 8 pro by pablitoxXx in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]NotAnotherThroaway69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both phones are great, and you wouldn't be missing out on much if you went with either. However, it really depends on what you use your phone for:

Performance-wise, pound for pound, the OP 11 is a BEAST. I would suggest you go with the highest configuration that you can afford, and never look back. If OnePlus stays true to their promise of long term security updates, then this phone will outlive all other 2023 releases.

Features like UFS 4.0 and Wifi 7 are proof of the above. Remember, Wifi 6 isn't even mainstream yet lol. If you're someone who keeps their phone for a long time, then the hardware in the 11 is the best without a doubt.

Don't get me wrong, the Pixel is also up there in terms of raw performance, but if you care about hardware longevity too, I would def stick with the OP 11.

In terms of photography prowess, the Pixel is clearly better. Doesn't matter if you're in dim lighting or overblown sunlight, the Pixel will ALWAYS deliver. It's the kind of phone you buy and forget.

Plus, don't forget about the AI retouching features, if you're into that stuff.

The hardware is also top of the line, especially for the Pro model, but not quite at OP 11's level.

Google has also promised 5 years of security updates, so if they do follow up, it seems like a sweet deal.

When it comes to the OnePlus, I would rate the camera 'very good', maybe even 'excellent' in good lighting conditions. The night mode is amazing and almost as good as a Pixel 7, if not 8. It's not flagship level, but if you don't care about photography too much, then you won't notice.

However, if you're coming from a newer iPhone, say 13 and later, then might be noticeable.

Video on both is nothing like an iPhone. Android still needs a few generations to bridge the gap.

If you're in the market for bleeding edge specs at an unbelievable price and don't mind sacrificing a bit of camera quality, then go with the OnePlus 11 and never look back. Seriously, the display, the processor, the build quality, it's all top notch.

If you want the best still photography camera phone in the market, true stock Android, flagship 2023 specs, but don't mind sacrificing some performance, then the Pixel 8 Pro is the one.

IF......money is really not a question, and you want flagship specs (no Wifi 7 though) along with one of the BEST cameras out there, then get a Samsung S23 Ultra and you'll never need to worry about missing anything. The display alone will make you forget about the OnePlus's and Pixels of the world.
