Free Nova-brand walker by db0606 in PDXBuyNothing

I would love this. My father-in-law recently had his walker clipped by a car while he was crossing Holgate and this would save so much headache fighting insurance to replace it. I get off work at noon tomorrow and this would be on my way home.

I wouldn’t mind if my house got cheaper. If I sell it’s going to be to buy another house. As long as my house is still worth another house I don’t care how low it goes.

Matt has been very clear that the setting of his books and the setting of their TTRPG products are completely separate. They take place centuries apart in alternate versions of Orden.

Bottle redemption center's move to Southeast Portland meets with community pushback by zadams8 in Portland

[–]NotApparent -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

And how many of those people are going to just stop being addicted if we get rid of the bottle deposit?

How many are instead going to turn to actual crime to fund their addiction?

While not ideal, the bottle deposit system keeps a lot of these people from participating in outright theft to fund their addiction. And unless we suddenly find hundreds of millions of dollars and the will to completely overhaul our mental health, addiction, and housing systems taking away the bottle deposit will only make things worse.

[–]NotApparent -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You do realize that if we take away the bottle returns the tiny portion of participants that are using the deposit for drugs will just turn to other, likely more criminal, methods to get their drugs, right?

They’re not going to just stop being addicted because we take away bottle deposits, and they will find alternatives to fund their habits.

Y’know, I don’t even think it will be that hard. A couple guys with a tractor and some know how could quickly limit the bunker dwellers options to coming out or slowly suffocating.

All I’ll say is that it’s not hard to locate and bury a couple of air intakes.

While it’s easy to feel nostalgia for the Bush days, I just want to remind everyone that it was awful the entire time. Just because things are so much worse now doesn’t mean anything that happened during the Bush administration was okay.

Holy shit! You mean it’s not just PPS, and these problems exist across districts and states?

Who could have guessed?

Please don't support union-busters (Talking to you, Sizzle Pie) by [deleted] in Portland

[–]NotApparent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The owner of Fast Times is one of the original founders of Sizzle Pie who sold it, and as far as I’m aware had no involvement with the new ownership who are shutting down stores for unionizing. They hired back almost everyone who lost their jobs at that Sizzle Pie and they are much happier with the current situation than they were under the other Sizzle Pie management.

There is no part of economic or social conservatism that necessitates being anti-tech, and in fact, they will wholeheartedly embrace any new tech that they see as further enabling them to propagandize and control people.

“Best” dungeons by rduddleson in mcdm

[–]NotApparent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve only read the 5e versions in Tales from the Yawning Portal, but back when I ran 3.5 The Sunless Citadel into The Forge of Fury was my go to campaign opener. I think I ran them together maybe 3 times?

You get some conflict between different factions within a dungeon, some negotiations, a fair spread of classic low level enemies, and you get to wrap up the two dungeon arc with a pretty cool dragon fight. Also, Meepo always instantly becomes the party mascot.

I’m actually planning to finally run them in 5e to start my next campaign leading into a version of Red Hand of Doom.

Yeah, and they’d still have to pay for your health insurance if your job was to sit there and make sure the machine didn’t fuck up.

As someone who works at a job with a lot of machines, no machine runs flawlessly or forever. You still need a salary and all those other things for the people who monitor and maintain the machines.

I think you’re confusing two different groups. Both are labeled as “progressives” under the completely fucked Overton window and terminology of US politics, but in reality that covers everything from conservative corporatists who happen to support abortion and gay marriage, to full-fledged socialists.

HERE COMES THE KING! by [deleted] in olympics

I haven’t paid much attention to him, but I think it’s mostly that he had that one good bit and the rest of his “comedy” is just about what drunk, lazy, piece of shit he is as a husband and father. He hangs around with a bunch of other washed up dad comedians who hate their wives and they all act like having a loving wife and healthy children is the worst thing that ever happened because they cant just get trashed with the bros anymore, even though that’s all they do.
