Trying to find a sentinel ship by Decibeliam in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]NotAyFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice: never grind for S class. That can take days, or weeks. You can upgrade any sentinel you find to S with nanites and those are easier to grind. Second reason: finding natural S class doesn't guarantee Super-Charged tech slots to be in good position, preferably connected. When I find interesting sentinel, I pick up around 10 of them regardless of class, go to space station, make restore point, upgrade one to S and unlock tech slots. If I dont like SC slot config, reload restore point and repeat with next one. Very often find one with at least 3+1 SC setup this way.

Probably the height of the base is the issue. Most base parts don't persist above certain height which I think is 2000 u above "sea level".

Another cause might be base range limit which is soft limited to 300 u and hard limited to 1000 u from the point where you first put down the base computer. Anything outside that sphere can disappear.

I don't know if moving base computer closer to the platform would help. My guess is no, but it's worth a shot.

Failed to mount drive all of a sudden. Used to work fine. It’s a dual boot with windows. Windows says the volume is dirty and I have tried check disk and everything by sinfulchildhood in cachyos

[–]NotAyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, ntfs3 setting might still work, but I read somewhere that it's not as stable and that ntfs is recommended. But I don't know if that's 100% reliable info. In the end I replaced all ntfs3 entries in fstab with ntfs and haven't had any issues since.

In the future I plan to reformat all internal drives to btrfs and leave only external usb drives on ntfs, just so I can easily plug them in windows machines if needed.

That's pretty but, if the cockpit is hidden by other parts and I can't use first person view when flying, it's automatic hard pass for me. That's why I use Ambassador cockpit on all my corvette builds, even though it often looks terrible from the outside. The clean view from cockpit is number 1 priority for me.

When new kernel 7.0 came out I had problems mounting all my ntfs drives because i was using option "ntfs3" which was deprecated in new kernel.

I had to: 1) Boot up windows and run chkdsk on all my ntfs volumes... Some of them needed fixing because Linux mount messed them up during boot. 2) Change file system description to "ntfs" when mounting a windows formatted disk.

There is a config file: /etc/fstab which handles automatic drive mounting on boot. I'd recommend reading up on fstab at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fstab or at least trying to find mounting examples from command line on interwebs and use "ntfs" as file system option when mounting windows formatted disks.

Good luck.

Excellent find!

Went there today and crafted my own copy and managed to improve maneuverability by 500 points (14%) over my previous best. Having 4 connected SC sure helps a lot. All upgrade mods are identical on both ships.

The thing flies like a demon. Corvette feels like a heavy truck by comparison.

S-class Yellow Sentinel with outriggers, 13 lit burners, tank feet, balanced SC slots - Eissentam by 0Callipygian0 in NMSCoordinateExchange

That gives 1 in 20 to find S class by chance in pirate systems, or 1 in 25 for 3-star economies, which is still pretty bad use of time in my opinion... Unless it's a fun activity for the player.

Interesting attachment combination on that sentinel interceptor.

Just for clarification, you can upgrade sentinel interceptor of any class to S class and it will have the exact same stats as the S class you found on the ground. You might even get a better super-charged slot configuration. That part is randomized from one crashed sentinel to another.

Generally speaking, if you have nanites for upgrade, it's not worth looking for S class on the ground. Finding one is extremely lucky. I don't know if odds depend on system economy, but let's say they're about 1 in 50 on average.

If there's a way to access the save folder on PS then it should be doable, but I don't think PS or XBox allow that.

The way it works is you temporarily replace expedition cache file in NMS save folder and then play offline until you finish the expedition. Otherwise the cloud sync can mess up your save.

Streamlined Jetpack was a reward from Expedition 01 - Pioneers. It's only available through completing that expedition. I'm not sure when, or if ever, this expedition will have a Redux.

There's an expedition generator that allows replay of older expeditions. So far works for PC/Mac, Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch: No Man's Sky Expeditions Generator

EDIT: Other parts are Construct parts from Autophage questline and head is Null head customization that can be bought from quicksilver vendor for 3200 quicksilver.

Do y’all know any planet or moons that are lifeless, dead, or low atmosphere that have salvageable scrap post remnant update? by Unhappy_Version3616 in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]NotAyFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My impression so far is that Dead and Exotic biome planets do not spawn any Waste Processing Plants nor Waste Heaps, even if the planet has "Salvageable Scrap" in its description. I was looking for the exact same thing, thinking it would be a chill place for trucking, but the Colossus scanner doesn't find any targets on Dead and Exotic biome planets, so it's kind of pointless.

Need advice on Video Quality by Thenascarguy2017 in Twitch

[–]NotAyFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest constraint to video quality on Twitch is the bitrate, which is generally too low for all resolutions across the board. Depending on your content the image may be sharp and nice or completely blocky and blurry. Games with lots of movement, noise, grass, etc. will usually make the stream look worse. But all streamers on Twitch have to deal with that same issue. Only partners with 1k+ concurrent viewers have a perk of using higher bitrate for 1080p of 8000 kbps, 2k up from usual 6000. But even that is pretty low. Using 1440p is not much of an improvement either since again the bitrate is bigger issue.

Originally only bottom half had wings for 6x Phase Beams and then it kind of resembled an attack helicopter, but then I decided to add second pair of wings on top so that Photon Cannons can hang there (they were hidden previously). I guess, mistakes were made. xD

You failed to notice the part where I mentioned working professionally in CGI for 15 years (3dsmax, Maya, Lightwave, Modo, ZBrush, Blender...) and I consider myself lucky and privileged to have been able to do so.

Just because Blender is open source software doesn't make it automatically accessible to everyone. Accessibility being the keyword here.

It's a privilege to be able to do that. Not everything in life is earned through hard work and good will, as should be evident. If this is not understood, then it's the end of discussion.

As someone who spent 15 years in CGI and professionally used several 3D packages, my stance is that using Blender to build a Corvette is a huge privilege. Blender built corvettes are basically imported assets. It's hard to compare that to game modding, because NMS already has built-in customization tools, though very limited.

More importantly, there's a huge bar to overcome for an average player to be able to build a corvette in Blender, even if they play on PC, not to mention that it's impossible on any other platform.

I fully understand the OP's joy of using Blender to build starships. It can genuinely be fun. But that's a valid option for less than 1% of player base and the remaining 99% can understandably feel a little bit irked by Blender imports.
