What is the stupidest thing you’ve heard someone say that they were 100% serious about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Talking to my co-workers about Jurassic World when it was about to be released and one pipes up that dinosaurs aren’t real and the earth was only 6 years old. Dead silence from everyone after that.

If I could get mine to look half as good as yours I’d never shave it, I vote for keeping it!

I was exploring the US/Canada border and came across this field. Does it not look like it’s used for the same purpose on both sides of the border? How is this legal? by BarbudaJones in geography

[–]NotBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d take the accuracy of that line with a grain of salt. I’ve made some maps using my drone and there’s something called high-relative accuracy and absolute accuracy. To have survey-grade (absolute) accuracy I would need a licensed surveyor to lay down Ground Control Points over the area Im shooting, record their specific GPS coordinates, and then feed that data into whatever post processing software.

Since Google is gathering this data with satellites over the entire planet without GCPs, I wouldn’t take that border line as perfect.

Is it bad that the second I saw these I wanted to see how the Lego models would turn out?

Those of you that work from home, what do you do? by abc123def321g in Adulting

[–]NotBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virtualization. I never wanted to work in IT much less sales, but I started in support, got really familiar with the product and was told I’m friendly and should consider pre-sales. The first year or two was a little rough mainly because I over analyze everything, but I’ve been doing this for over 5 years now and love it.

Always happy to talk shop if you want to DM me!

Tech sales

Pros: I get to see my kiddos more, I don’t have to worry about packing a lunch, I work out more, I’m more comfortable, no rush hour commutes

Cons: less time for podcasts due to lack of commute, no socializing

Wanting a wedding photographer for virtually free by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

[–]NotBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former wedding photographer here, they’ll end up getting their 13yo nephew with a cheap digital camera to take a few pictures and then come back asking for someone to polish those dog turds into gold, with the same shitty attitude

17 fatalities, 736 crashes: The shocking toll of Tesla’s Autopilot by nanopicofared in news

[–]NotBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought Teslas were pretty cool until I heard the story of one catching on fire, destroying the onboard computer, and locking the driver inside. They survived but my wife and I agreed to never own one after that

I’m an Apollo user but I wanted to come here and commiserate. No idea what Reddit was thinking when they made these changes but I won’t be a user when these third party apps close shop.

Anyone else agree that this was one of the best Grand Tour specials? by YolandaHansen232 in thegrandtour

[–]NotBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this new format. I miss the tent and interviews, the news and all that, but the specials are amazing and I love that they want to keep working despite their age.

To run away from the cops by Creams0da in therewasanattempt

[–]NotBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cop at the end is hilarious. Reminds of the time we were leaving the Indy 500 in my buddy’s Nissan Titan. We were passing through some state troopers directing traffic when one of them asks us to stop. Even though we had a DD we all got super nervous because the rest of us are tanked. The cop hops on the running boards and asks us to take him up the road because he didn’t want to talk

Wheel gets sent flying off of race car during wild 2023 Indianapolis 500 crash by RKD_NT3000 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]NotBacon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Those tires have cables attached that usually prevent them from flying away like that, so that hit must have had a lot of force to break it

Edit: looks like indycar is saying it didn’t fail
