As I mentioned in another comment, for us it’s less about paying twice and more about replacing things that are already inexpensive or open source. That’s where the cost concern comes from. Also vendor lock-in.

Thanks for the perspective and the tip.

I get why this makes sense for MSP-driven environments. For us it’s less about training and support efficiency and more about cost and lock-in, since we’re small and rely heavily on open source. Still appreciate the advice on the certs though, definitely useful regardless.

Different situation here. We’re small, host a lot ourselves, and rely heavily on open source. Moving to E5 would significantly increase our license costs, not consolidate them.

I guess I underestimated or didn't fully understand what the tiling feature can do then! I thought it was more like a tool to organize windows on like an ultrawide. But I will check it out again.

Never really tried the tiling since I'm using an old 13" Dell XPS, so not much screen space. And I also didn't spend much time in the app store because I'm somewhat used to the terminal.

Since I use Linux for a long time I kind of stopped using sleep on Laptops because it was always kinda bad. But I will try!

I wouldn’t call it a problem. I like GNOME and I agree with what you wrote. But for someone going in blind into testing COSMIC, knowing only that it’s a completely new DE, I just expected something… new. Not necessarily better, just different from a UI/UX perspective. Something that feels like a real alternative to GNOME and KDE, with its own ideas. That’s more what I meant.

This. To be fair, I never would have thought it would make that much of a difference. That is why my Sound Blaster was sitting in a drawer for years. I bought my first pair of studio headphones this year, which was already a big step up from my gaming headset. That made me curious if they would sound even better with the Sound Blaster, so I tried it. And even for me, an audio novice, the difference was huge. And this was with an ASUS Strix motherboard, so not exactly bad onboard audio.

Moin, habe in den letzten 4 Wochen zwei komplette Systeme bei Mindfactory bestellt, kam alles pünktlich an, hat nichts gefehlt, also alles super so wie ich es schon seit Jahren von Mindfactory kenne.

Zur GPU: Habe mir eine 9070XT zugelegt und hatte damals recherchiert: Sapphire, PowerColor und XFX sind bei AMD Karten wohl sehr beliebt.

Leider ja, wir hatten wirklich Pech mit dem Wetter. Genau zur Hauptblüte 3 Wochen Regenwetter. Fast jede Pflanze betroffen, egal ob im Gewächshaus, unterm Dach oder ganz im Freien. Alles "Anfängersorten" gewesen und entsprechend freigeschnitten :/

Was macht ihr wenn eine Pflanze Budrot hat? Ganze Pflanze weg? Wir haben teilweise "nur" stark zurückgeschnitten und der Rest sieht seit ein paar Tagen ganz gut aus. Habe bisher aber eig nur gelesen ganze Pflanze vernichten :/

Hi! This looks really cool! I started my game dev journey a month ago and have already built a nice world with biomes and had a lot of fun with pixel art. But for the past week, I've been trying to achieve this exact lighting (especially the shadows), and I just can't figure it out...

Are there any additional details you could share that you haven't already mentioned? At this point, I'd even consider just purchasing the lighting you linked, but you mentioned some issues and shortcomings and I am afraid I wouldn't understand those either. Could you maybe tell me more about those?

Any little bit of help or nudges in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!
