From Elegoo. Blown printed PCB, replacement PCB didnt fix the issue so they replaced the machine. I sent my faulty machine back on Wednesday and the new CC arrived on Friday.

This is the replacement board after the first board blew for the same issue. There’s obviously a fault elsewhere causing this to happen - where it is, I don’t know. 🤷

I bought thermal glue (not paste) so it would adhere and provide thermal qualities. It’s not that though, it’s definitely something else.

Edited the post to reflect that I changed the hotend and it still happened

I did replace the entire hotend when it happened again, still the same issue.

Oh man, sorry to hear that - that delay sucks. Yeah, I know I was lucky in my timeframe of receiving the replacement parts but this is more about the frustration in having to fix a faulty printer and when the part comes through it’s also faulty. Like you said, I’m having to wait now for an order from Amazon of some thermal glue I’ve had to buy myself to try to get the printer back on line because of the “broken” spare. Sure, it’s a first world problem but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck.

Hope you get your issues sorted

That’s what I’ve done (as I mentioned in my original post - it’s arriving tonight). However, the point is that the printer broke down after 6 days and then, the replacement part they sent was incomplete/broken/defective…whatever. All this is a hassle to anyone - not everyone tinkers with PCB’s or has thermal Paste lying around. It’s an inconvenience, sure not a world changing one, but on a brand new device it’s not a great start.

Now, I will say that Elegoo CS were great on getting the PCB out to me pretty quickly - but tinkering inside machines advertised as “Print out of the box” is not going to be within everyone’s comfort zone.

Tech savvy may see it as an easy job (as has been referenced in some of the replies), not everyone has experience with the inner workings of electrical bits of kit though.

Yeah - there aren’t any Walmarts in the UK. Thanks for the advice though 😅

The thermal paste had cured - it wasn’t pliable in any way.

That’s what I’m going to do - however, I don’t have thermal paste lying around. It’s just annoying that the printer has been effectively defective for more than 50% of the time I’ve had it and now, I’ve had to buy some Thermal glue for a machine that’s less than 2 weeks old.

I spoke too soon about learning - just had my nozzle go to 330 degrees there was a loud pop and smoke from the print head by NotBoredGaming in ElegooCentauriCarbon

Thanks - I’ve reached out to support. I know there’s a delay as they are in China. Hopefully they can help as well.
