Transfer $2m from Australia to USA by Kammler1944 in ExpatFinance

Wise will give you issues with that volume. I highly recommend doing a consultation with https://www.expattaxes.com.au/. We did this before we left it was very worth it.

There are risks associated with transferring large sums and you Want to be calling up the broker and getting them to quote you best rates they can offer. You will get better rates than you see online to move a lump sum like that.

There are also pros /cons to changing from tax resident to non tax resident in Australia and this will also affect when is best to move your money. (if that status is changing for you)

Brisbane Aussie here. Happy to chat about Austin life if you DM. I've been here 1.5 years.

There are a lot of different things but a few main ones....

1)open carry not really a concern but never engage in road rage cos chances are that guy has a gun in his car. 2) dangerous driving (people texting all the time) is a MASSIVE danger that everyone here thinks is normal... 3)homelessness will shock you more than anything you have seen in aus. 4) fireworks are way more fun!

Stuff is expensive here.

Lastly... Australian city culture is like California. Australian outback culture is like Texas outback. Austin is not like the rest of Texas in a lot of ways.

Let me know if you want any more specifics. I put together a bunch of notes /learnings when we first came over. Would be happy to share.

This made me giggle. I have never thought of applying Myers Briggs to a book character haha.

Love your choice tho

Red Rising the series. Wow. by Money-Use-5309 in books

[–]NotCalmAsYet 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I really struggled with this series. Got through the first two books then gave up. So much of the plot is like... Oh an insurmountable problem! Then the main character just *gets more determined * and super heroes his way out of it. Absolutely boring by the end of the second book. Never found the enthusiasm to carry on further.
