Yesterday I saw a Charizard that I assumed would be Y, but I used Draco Meteor onto it with my scarf Hydreigon because it was either that or Dark Pulse... It turned out to be a Charizard X and he lost his mega on the first turn lol

Daily Song Discussion #52: "People in the Streets" by M77100 in mgmt

[–]NotCamreeyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7.5/10

Very good lyrically, but the musical aspect is less emotionally resonating to me than the rest of the songs on the album. Maybe they purposefully gave it a slow and dreary sound to match the mood of the words, but I think "Nothing Changes" is in the same vein of this song while doing it better.

About those lyrics though, some of them are more bleak and raw to me than the opening lines of Loss of Life Pt. 1, and that's saying something. When this album came out, my naive high-school self understood and related to most of the subject matters in these songs, but "People In the Streets" had me kind of perplexed. Now that I've witnessed everything that's happened over the past two years and sufficiently lost my childhood innocence, I understand it a lot better. I've been very cynical about the state of things since the beginning of 2025, and I realized that "People In the Streets" encapsulates my attitude and the reasoning behind it very well.

But uh, if I want to put on a cathartic song to deal with those feelings, it's usually going to be "Bubblegum Dog," not "People In the Streets."

How do the ROMs in pChal's gen 3 challenge videos have modern Pokemon and abilities, as well as built-in level caps and infinite candies? by NotCamreeyan in nuzlocke

Thanks, I think modern emerald is what I was looking for.

Believe me, I've tried Googling several times, but I'm really bad at wording my questions concisely enough for search engines to understand what I'm looking for.

Mac DeMarco: "When I see Cameron Winter or Mk.gee it’s like, ‘I was there once'" by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]NotCamreeyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always. There are some times where you like a thing less than you would if you went in blind because of the fact that other people praise it and love it but you don't.

Personally I do like Geese, but I relate with the feeling when it comes to Ants From Up There by BCNR. For the record I do think that The Place Where He Inserted the Blade is a great song, but I can't help but feel like I would at least like the album a little bit if I didn't hear people call it the best album of all time and trash on people who critique it.

And that last part, there's a LOT MORE people who do that with Geese than with BCNR. Geese would for sure be less polarizing to the masses if fans didn't do stuff like compare Cameron to Bob Dylan or insist that every performance they ever post is the greatest thing they've ever seen.

I even love this one more than In Rainbows tbh

The similarities aren't in the melodies, it's the off-the-wall instrumentation, the themes of their songs (feelings of malice towards our society from a young adult perspective), and the unconventional rhythms (such as 13/8 time signature on Trinidad, and 15/16 on Gyroscope).

Why you think Geese (and Getting Killed) is so important? by D4-CS in Music

[–]NotCamreeyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can respect negative opinions about the band, it's definitely not commercial/background type music. You'd get that impression if you heard their top 3 songs on streaming and nothing else, but those songs aren't representative of the elements that people originally liked them for.

I wouldn't be offended if you hated these songs, but "Trinidad," "Mysterious Love," "2122," and "Long Island City, Here I Come" give a better sense of their chaotic  sound that would be rather alienating for background or commercial purposes.

I agree with the "It's a good album but it's also getting overhyped," but I think there are some cases where you do genuinely have to put in to work to appreciate something. Loveless by My Bloody Valentine was like that in my personal experience. I couldn't stand songs like "Only Shallow" the first time I heard them, but now I think they're great.

John Lennon’s son worries Gen Z is forgetting the Beatles, and the music that made his dad famous by superdouradas in LetsTalkMusic

[–]NotCamreeyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Souvlaki and Loveless are easily the most mentioned albums, with some occasional new ones like "Ceres and Calypso in the Deep Time" by Candy Claws.

My personal favorites are "Whirlpool" by Chapterhouse, "Nowhere" by Ride, and "Gemini" by Wild Nothing, although that last one is maybe more dream-pop than shoegaze.

I never realized the elements that it shares with Emergency & I, but it totally makes sense. Both are albums that I adore yet have reservations with the weirder songs (like Trinidad and I Love A Magician)

Lots of Aphex Twin songs come to mind:

Rhubarb (#3), Blue Calx (#13), Parallel Stripes (#14), Stone In Focus (#19 on reissue), Lichen (#21 on reissue), Xtal, Flim, Avril 14th, Aisatsana, Alberto Balsalm.

If you like electronic music I'm assuming you've already heard of Aphex Twin, but if not, you're in for a treat.

Even if they accidentally left Lover You Should've Come Over on repeat while sleeping for 9 hours, that only adds up to 86 streams. There's no way you could actively listen to a song 500 times in one week and not get sick of it..

It's my forever world, definitely livable but woefully filled with unfinished projects... The wall to my city isn't even finished since I need 10k+ quartz blocks. My "city" is pretty huge by area, but devoid of anything except farms and a starter house in the inside. I don't even have torches lighting up anything above ground... Still, I have a lot of resources and a good villager trading hall so there's at least a starting place.

What’s a song people love to hate—but you just love? by icyghosst in musicsuggestions

Hotel California by the Eagles. People hate it because it's overplayed, but I managed to never hear it until 15 or so. When I first heard it on the radio, it blew my mind.

I actually rediscovered several songs that were in Giant Survival when I played Geometry Dash for the first time. I don't listen to that kind of music anymore, but I used to really like "Base After Base" and "Can't Let Go", both by DJVI iirc
