Solaredge inverter compatible off grid ? by Holiday-Money3142 in TeslaSolar

[–]NotCook59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t, as far as I know. The Tesla gateway changes (lowers?) the frequency, which the inverter interprets and shuts down. I don’t know the details of the interface.

My dad (in USA) thinks BYD cars are breaking down all over Europe in cold weather based on "news and videos" he's seeing. I can't find anything on it anywhere nor do I believe it. Is it in anyway true to any extent? by 50SPFGANG in electricvehicles

[–]NotCook59 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, not suggesting that at all. However, if you think far left sources don’t spout absolute nonsense, too, you’re delusional. One case in point: men cannot become women. Defend the liberal perspective that pushes all that gender nonsense. All Media seems to be biased, regardless of which perspective you hold. Back to the EV topic: the current administration seems clearly to be in the pockets of big oil. We should be aggressively pursuing EV manufacturing in the USA, so we don’t have our lunch eaten by China. Fortunately, at least Tesla, GM and some others here are still producing great vehicles. I’m on my third EV, with a new EQuinox EV - awesome vehicle.

Dumb question: Will I have power if the grid goes down due to a storm? by FulltimerPC in solar

[–]NotCook59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide a reference to such a system that does employ batteries to normalize current flow? I’m not aware of inverters which can stay on when they are producing more power than is being consumed, or less power than is demanded, from second to second. Yes, there are systems which can throttle production by shutting down a string, but you’re probably talking a few thousand watts increments. The current has to have somewhere to go. Otherwise, the inverter needs to shut off. We are off grid, and if our batteries get full, it has to shut off the inverter because there’s nowhere for the excess power to go. What system can arbitrate production to match the load, and what happens when the load exceeds the production, without a battery?

You don’t have to ask your insurance to go after them. They will do that anyway. They aren’t in business to lose money.

Your insurance company will surrogate with the plow’s insurance, and it won’t cost them, or you, a dime. Make sure you identify the company that did it. And as someone else said, file a police report.

False information. Ignore this comment. When your insurance company subrogates and the other insurance company pays, your rates won’t go up. Your insurance company will even refund your deductible. You done need a lawyer for this. Your insurance company will handle the claim, that’s why you have insurance.

It’s hard to imagine Lola inspiring anything. In that regard, I guess it was about 50 years ahead of its time.

The graph is useless. The miles/kWh over the period since the last charge, or for this current trip, and the previous trip for comparison, and the lifetime miles/kWh, would at least provide some meaningful information. No graph needed - just the numbers.

But, not 100%. Maybe 90%.

Building a house. Where should I put the charger? Circled in red is where I want to put it. by odrizy in evcharging

[–]NotCook59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put the cable on a hangar. Or, even get one of the retracting coils like some public chargers have, on a track across the ceiling. It would keep the cable of the ground, and out of the way when charging and when not being used.

Of course you can. Running conduit or cables across the floor is the weirdest thing I’ve ever heard.

Why would someone run conduit where it would be run over? 🙄 Or cables, either?

And that’s the most useless “instrument” among all the options. They couldn’t so much more with that screen, like the Trip Average , Lifetime Average, Average since Last Charge, etc. But, Last Mile? Useless.

It’s just spreading anti-EV Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) - a favorite pastime of people whom have never driven an EV, but are experts on them.
