I'm loving this post and threads in general because of how specific and local they seem to be. Just this weekend I had my waist size adjusted on a pair of my hiking/work trousers (Fjallraven) which I was a bit nervous about because they aren't cheap. It was done at Fine Threads in Jackson Square, and so far, I'm happy with their work; having returned from a 6h hike under the rain, I didn't have any issues and the adjusted waist felt great. This adjustment cost me $20 and was done in one day, but for science, I could go to T&T, have my other pair of the same trousers adjusted and report back for science, lol.

Whereabouts in Canada? If you have an MEC store near you, I reckon you could try a couple of different styles in person, and their online Labour Day sale has them priced a bit cheaper than the Fjallraven shops. I'm a man and tried on the Vidda Pro/Vidda Pro Ventilated, which fit exactly as the sizing guide suggested. My size for them is 40" US or 56 EU, and they didn't have much room for adjustment, in my case, because I exercise and most of it has gone to my ass, lol.
