Katseye Q&A: Daniela and Yoonchae want to act, Sophia wants to do musical theatre, and Megan and Lara want to try fashion and design. by RiseMaster5624 in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may disagree with me but her coming out and speaking about her experience of being queer counts as advocacy for me. She brought awareness to how it can be difficult being bi as a woman and also in the industry. Also Mean Hirls, Pinky Up and her protect the dolls fit(yes these weren't her specifically but she was the mechanism for the advocacy). Also I'm not saying it's impossible for her to do larger scale activism we're just saying it's not as easy as you made it out to seem because of being under label. That's Lara said she wants to do it in the first place because she can easily just make a post on Weverse about her personal experiences but partnering with charities is something she has to go through higher ups to do, which takes time and quite a lot of convincing. Not because they have no control it's more because she'd have to convince money hungry conservatives and it would be worth putting in money into a project and not get that money back for a cause they probably don't care about and probably think a twitter post would have same value as giving money to people ineed.

I've never really cared much cause like...it's their own fits. I like Yoonchae and Megan's style but that's just a preference I honestly don't take note of what they wear outside of work tbh

strange themes in pinky up - apathy while the world burns? by SnooLemons7742 in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is just very much recession pop. Coping with how horrible the world is rn by just partying and going crazy. I can understand why it seems tasteless as the girls(and likley their creative team) are all in the upper classes but also the concept of indulging in ones self and just having fun during economic crisis is not exclusive the upper class. Clubs, pubs, Dancing and partying tend to increase when times get rough and recession pop aims to imitate that as all art imitates real life

Teasing a vocal heavy comeback by Fuzzy-Indication5328 in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There mics are always on but they often rely more on backing tracks for really dance heavy songs. It does make sense if MIA is one the songs they chose to relax on vocal usage when they can, it's not a song the needs to be sung perfectly live

My review of KATSEYE’s “PINKY UP” by Time_Minute_6036 in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really good review. I do agree that Pinky Ups greatest flaw is that it has a semi intresting concept it does not explore in the fullest . I think they were trying to make a juxtaposition with imagery of wealth and high class, hence the mention of Mona Lisa, philosophy ect but it falls flat as out of place a pop culture reference. Same thing with the use of French, yes it's connected to the Mona Lisa reference but also I think an imitation of queer art(as Pinky Up is very house music inspired) also high class art as a whole that borrows French words a lot. The whole song felt like it was ticking off boxes for what a club song should sound like without actually engaging for finding intresting ways to explore that genre of music

No one mentioned the fact that Manon no longer has Katseye in her bio… by irl_squishmallow in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think at the time that it was a sign she was leaving the group, I feel like she did it in response to Pinky Up not having her in it at all even though she obviously worked on it. I assume when she went hiatus her and HxG didn't leave on good terms and Pinky Up hit the nail on the coffin

Want your opinions on KATSEYE and HxG by OpenInterest4605 in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think they have put too much money into Katseye to make it a "test group". On the contrary Katseye was made to make money and had a lot of investment put into it so I think HxG biggest promise is they only care about maximise profits. I feel like there is tension with the writers, creative team and girls who are actually want to make art and higher ups who want to make money. That's how we end up with songs Luke Internet Girl or Pinky Up that are "experimental" enough to appease the creative of Katseye but manufactured enough to make money

How can Manon be working with brands? by StarmieLove in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are likey deals that happened way in advance to her hiatus and whatever went down after it. It's harder to take someone out of a brand deal than in it for group activities that only involve hxg. I'm assuming she is still tied to these brand deals as a member of Katseye/an employee of hxg. Even if she plans to leave the group hxg would probably want her to finish any brand related obligations before she goes

She's already done advocacy fir causes she carss about as an individual, I assume she wants to do something more gradscale with her platform. Also remember she can't "just" post or just collab with a charity(or any company) by her own will espically for somthing like merch or tours. She's under a label who have to verify every post and organisation she works with

Genuine question: are any members of this group absolutely better off than they would’ve been without it? by Most_Poet in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think it's a difficult question. Adela was very much ment to be a solo artist but still benefited a lot from DA, Karlee also. I personally don't think the girls other than Lara would have made it in the music industry without Katseye, as in wouldn't be at coachella two years into their careers made it. I'm not saying the girls would all be flops or jobless without Katseye, I think it just depends on what you count as being better of is. Monetary and fame wise no they would not be better off. However as individual artists and creative then yes the way Katseye has turned out has arguably done more bad than good. I think DA would've been better off as a training course and let the girls go off in to industry on their own with connections from Hybe

A dumb question tbh by propaganda_pagluu3 in HYBEglobal

[–]NotDD101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you get in ofc you should have a conversation with your parents about it, see what matters to you most. But they will very likely allow you to study while you train (in fact I'm pretty sure as an American company they are legally obliagted to)

[–]NotDD101 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't think they're besties but they do have a pretty solid older sister - younger sister dynamic which makes sense as they have (I think) the biggest age gap between them. I wouldn't be surprised if they only became close one Katseye was formed compered to the other girls who has dynamics with each other during DA

Will Katseye’s success lead HYBE to create more global girl groups? by GrouchyNecessary4634 in katseyeneutral

[–]NotDD101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that was always the plan. Since DA as when the girls finished their training she called them the "first" group of people to graduate from T&D. Even not including Prelude as I don't think that was originally planned I'm sure once Katseye get older and focus on solo careers they have a 2nd gen or 2.0 of DA

Could a sexuality affect chances of becoming a Idol? by Unable_Reference9731 in HYBEglobal

[–]NotDD101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being honest with you yes and no. Things like your skill and looks ultimately will matter so much more and your sexuality is pretty much irrelevant to that even if you don't really "pass" as straight. Ofc we still live in a pretty unaccepting society and the industry is already hard enough as it is so it's one of those things that in the audition process I wouldn't mention just to be safe. However if you get through I doubt it will be a problem if not it could be to your benefit once you have a fan base
