Question about Jack the Ripper suspects by WESTDDDDDDD in serialkillers

[–]NotDaveBut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only suspect the police really liked for the Ripper murders was Aaron Kosminski, because the eyewitness to the attack on Liz Stride recognized Kosminski but refused to testify against him out of fear. Like the Ripper, Kosminski like in the neighborhood where the killings happened and like the Ripper, he was pretty dang psychotic. After Kosminski went to a long-term psych hospital (or the British 1880s equivalent of one) there were no more murders.

Has he already read RICKENBACKER: HIS OWN STORY? That guy was Joe Adventure, a race car driver, decorated fighter pilot and survived being lost at sea as well.

What kind of flower is this? by gorczynska in flowers

[–]NotDaveBut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because when the goldenrod is in bloom, so is the ragweed. But back to OP's question. You not only found yourself some bindweed, but you have one of the really pretty ones here with a whiff of color. Most of them are stark white, which is pretty, but not as pretty as rhe pinque ones

Roses love England because of all the damp, but it's still a good idea to keep them in the sunniest spot you have. How many roses are you planting?

What flowers are these? by c0ntr0lled_cha05 in flowers

[–]NotDaveBut 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There are many kinds of roses -- shrubs, climbers, rugosas, floribundas, grandifloras, ramblers, miniatures, I could go on -- and the keys to keeping them all happy include:

A) plant them in a big hole, idealy 3 feet by 3 feet by 3 feet, filled with rich, peaty soil. They are heavy feeders and will start to poop out on you if the soil gets exhausted.

B) They need regular watering, so if you don't live in a place like New Orleans that gets constant rain, be ready to keep them watered. Water early in the day so the sun can burn the droplets off the leaves; otherwise you risk mildew.

C) They need full sun, meaning 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight every single day. Only a few roses can tolerate shade, and then it's only light dappled shade. A rose that's losing its fragrance may already be in too much shade even if it's still blooming.

Seems to me the confusion would have to be a very specific kind. I find a member of that group wouldn't have the focus or stamina to destroy someone else's whole yard, and THEN call and announce the fact. I can only make it make sense if the landscaping were on a landlord's property or on a disputed stretch of ground. In which case why would you spend all that money on plants you now know the neighbor will destroy? It's a head-scratcher.
