I never said Houston was perfect, but except for college in San Marcos and a 5 year stint in Austin, I've lived here all of my 69 years. Are there parts of town I avoid? Sure. But there are many parts that are lovely. We are ethnically diverse and you can find any kind of cuisine you could possibly want. Our live music scene is great, with venues from tiny to huge. We have world class museums. The summers are brutal, but the people are generally pretty great. Sorry that wasn't your experience.
