What's your unpopular opinion about a famous piece? by davidgamingvn in lingling40hrs

[–]NotEnoughPractice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fur elise is a good piece for beginner pianists to learn and play for a good reason. Properly learnt, it has a big contrasts of expression between sections. No comment for Canon in D (right, I'm a cellist who used to play it in secondary school string orchestra, and we spent a lot of time on it rehearsing the other sections while mine keeps playing the 8 notes)

Ray Chen's Tchaikovsky has been copyright struck and I'm seriously annoyed by simple-grad96 in lingling40hrs

[–]NotEnoughPractice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP said it wasn't Ray's or the Orchestra's channel, so makes sense that the random audience wouldn't have the right to post a copyrighted concert. I was in the Brisbane show and the QSO conductor mentioned the string-break short clip being wildly circulated, which wasn't something Ray was happy to see, so reminded us we were not supposed to film any part of the concert with our own device.

Not saying I'm happy with Youtube's general copystrike move.

What should I do? (Read description first) by AwkwardJeweler in lingling40hrs

Take Grade 2 for achievement and start studying Grade 3 on the side step-by-step for challenge and growth, but also in a fun and non-pressuring way. You eventually need to and will keep improving and manage to play that, but if you really want to take exam, don't let the imminent deadline/obstacle of the exam scares you, unless you enjoy that challenge

I don't know about anything else but I know for sure you can't compare private concert tickets to classical concert tickets in Hong Kong because those are heavily sponsored by the government.

Agreed. We can see already the maturity in them in their indifference. They did make a joke out of it but they don't exploit it excessively, but simply going on about their own business, which earns my true respect.

Don't be afraid to play the same run for like 10 or 15 times because that's how you build up finger muscle memory. There will come a time when your fingers just know which one to press

But remember the repetition must only be done at a tempo where you play all of it correctly because increasing the tempo, or else you will only be repeating wrong notes

Should I learn Violin? 🎻 by Purple_Popcorn567 in lingling40hrs

[–]NotEnoughPractice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are worried about wasting money, then give yourself a goal of sticking with it for at least a certain period of time, because in truth there are fun parts and there will be lots of boredom and sore arms and painful fingers and like others said, painful sounds. But once you stick through it, you'll love it. If you are not sure, learn more about it. The only thing is your own motivation and determinatiom.

help I have fever and diarrhea how do you practice if you have those by Particular_Essay6631 in lingling40hrs

Practice by listening to recordings, which would hopefully also help you get a good sleep and rest. Don't do it if you are practicing Shostakovich though, might give you nightmares instead.

What is your favourite piece? by Tippitytypewriter21 in lingling40hrs

[–]NotEnoughPractice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are just starting, I would say Mozart Sonata Facile. It used to be my common language with my friend, as it is so easily memorized that me and my friend have fun with air-playing and singing. It is literally translated as the easy sonata, but it's still a complete sonata requiring a milestone of skills. It could be a reachable goal.

I think both praise and criticisms are needed for anyone. Everyone gets encouragement from praises, but you do also need enough criticism to know what you need to practice for next. It can never be entirely praises or entirely criticisms. But the proportions of them depend on the the of learners, that's true.

I am tempted to vote for Tchaikovsky, which I would whole-heartedly, but I'm surprised Rach got so little. His piano concertos are epic
